Well the channel abc1 has been axed, the main reason cited above is the inability to get hold of the slot to go 24 hours.

I think it's a shame. abc1 had so much potential. Ever since it began there has been rumours that Disney would bring drama/classics/films to abc1 but it never materialised.

To be honest the channel is in a pretty dismal state at the minute, but to be honest Disney probably have only themselves to blame for this given the stupid schedules of about 5 programs only.

There's no variation at all and it takes only about 3 weeks until all he episodes of one show has been shown and then they go back to the start again.

Well it's a shame, but like I say it's partly Disney's own fault.

Now there's even more reason for Disney to get Hope and Faith on DVD!

Well, they could have got a 24 hour slot. Channel 4 just got their C4+1 channel.

Obviously Disney didn't want to bid as much for the slot as C4 did. At the moment Channel 4 isn't really using the slot, but the important thing is they have it, should they choose to release a new, more distinctive channel in the future.

I don't know what to think. As it stands, I thought ABC1 was a crappy channel, with too many "blocks" of programmes. It was nothing but lazy, cheap scheduling. I won't miss it personally.

I would hope that if it did achieve it's ambition of going 24 hours, the programming would be better and more diverse. It certainly had potential.

Well Channel4 have had that C4+1 slot for a while, it used to be Film4 +1 and before that it was More 4+1.

You know Disney's party line about was always that they were waiting until they went 24 hours on freeview to improve.

I suppose the question now is what will happen with the slot? Will Disney keep it and bring us a new channel, or more likely sell it?

I don't think it's a coincidence that abc1 will disappear around the same time the new 24 hour Virgin1 station is appearing.

Oh, I thought More4+1 was still on.

That may muck up my Daily Show recordings in the future :(

Well even though they had scheduled programs right up to 6am on Monday 1st October, for whatever reason they pulled the plug unannounced today at 12.00 midday.

For all those of you with withdrawal symptoms.

Five have bought the rights to 8 Simple Rules and will broadcast it in a double bill every Sunday from 11 am. They've also got the rights for Hannah Montana's terrestrial debut which airs in a double bill Sundays from 10am.

This starts from tomorrow Sunday 21st October.

And unlike abc1 will be in widescreen.

Looks like five are replacing ITV1 as Disney's terrestrial bitch.
