Piercings

Okay, so, this might be kind of a weird thread, but I just want to know what you think. I really want my fiance to get a piercing when he turns 18. I am all for the lip piercings, but I know they can cause a lot of trouble with your gums and teeth and such...and I also like the eyebrow.

Thoughts? I'm not going to vote.

None of them! Facial Piercings look tacky if you ask me, same goes for tattoos. Sorry to sound so blunt but that's just my opinion.

Same with me. Sometimes they can change your whole look!

I know that they can change your whole look. I simply just love them and I want him to have one. He needs to do something drastic when he turns 18 to show his mother that she doesn't rule him. He won't get a tattoo because he says that it would hurt too much, and it takes a LOT longer than a piercing.

If you had to pick one.

I know they can change your whole look. It's going from normal lips to lips with a ring, or a little stud. I think it's hot. I asked you to pick one, not tell me if you like them.

In all fairness, you said and I quote "thoughts" that in itself doesn't specify whether or not you wanted us to pick our favorite. I gave my "thoughts" which was I don't like them and I stick by that, so don't roll your eyes at me I am entitled to my opinion whether you like it or not. Secondly you may think they're "hot" but does your fiance because he's the one that will be living with it not you? And finally, getting a piercing or a tattoo is not the right way about going to prove to your future mother in law that she doesn't rule him. In all honesty I think it's pretty immature and probably the reason why she does rule him because you sound like a bad influence.

If I had to pick one, I would choose the eyebrow! It's cute. I don't like piercings on/around the lips.

Okay, you do NOT know my mother in law. She does not--

No. Forget it. I don't have to explain myself to you. My fiance's mother does not let him CALL me more than twice a week. I have not seen him in over 2 months. She rules him, and by doing something when he's 18, it will show her that he's his own boss. I HAVE talked to him about it, thus why I know he wouldn't want a tattoo. I am not MAKING him do anything he wouldn't want to do. But he does have to do something to prove to me that his mother isn't going to be a constant nagging presence. I am going to roll my eyes at you because I asked you which you thought the best piercing was. I am done with the conversation now, I don't want any forum wars to start.

You know ... though I can't imagine myself with piercings (well ... technically I can - that old imagination of mine isn't here for nothing you know), if I were you I'd choose the eyebrow. It makes the human look sufficiently pierced ( ) without inflicting really drastic changes to his/her overall look (mummy will still recognize her offspring  ).

One thing, Jasmine ... I hope that in the US there isn't some sort of prejudice against people who wear piercings or tattoos. At least, in my country, especially till some years ago, anyone sporting such stuff would be labelled as a delinquent/vulgar/uneducated youth, or even a criminal. It's stupid, I know, but that's what happens when you live in a country as large as a pinhead.

Out of those 3, with a guy in mind, I chose side of lip. I have guy friends with eyebrow rings, and I don't dislike them (if I could've picked 2, I probably would have), but I guess I had your fiance in mind (thanks to your Myspace photo album, Meg!). I think that labrets are more girly...they probably aren't, but just my opinion.

Amy, you're right, the labret is my least favorite. I really like the side of the lip because I can easily tug on it....Lol. The eyebrow is nice, too.

Julian, people are a little bit funky with facial piercings and tattoos. You know, one or two tattoos that are easily hidden by a shirt isn't bad, or a belly button piercing. But if a person has their nose and their lip and their eyebrow pierced, they're looked at as being weird.

I am really thinking about the eyebrow because it's really nice, and it won't cause as many dental problems...But IDK the lip is really nice....Maybe I'll tell him to talk to his dentist. I am going to have him talk to his regular doctor (or maybe even a dermatologist) about his eyebrow if that's what we decide on.
