It's so interesting to read about all the different attractions/lands/resorts, etc. that were planned but never came to be. I'm still reading through everything, but I will post some other thoughts when I'm done. I just thought I'd share the information!

I think the Indian, European, and Egyptian hotels sound like they would have been interesting. The Egyptian theme hotel idea caught most of my interest; it's a very unique concept.

The Little Mermaid dark ride could have been one of my favourites, too bad it didn't make it.

But you can catch it on the Little Mermaid DVD. And I heard a rumor that as part of the DRASTIC California Adventure remodel, Tony Baxter may be pushing to add this ride to that park. It's mentioned by Al Lutz at an article found at Miceage.com. Here's the part talking about the TLM ride:
Just to the east of that (the Route 66 section of the park) and across from the current amphitheater the Golden Dreams attraction would be torn down. Sorry Whoopi, your time is coming to an end. Only the Palace of Fine Arts dome would remain, and it would be used as the exit for a brand new Little Mermaid ride using an Omnimover ride system like The Haunted Mansion. Those trusty Ominmover ride systems can carry up to 2,300 riders per hour, and seeing how Golden Dreams has been averaging only 75 or 80 visitors per hour this summer, that should be a much better use for that space.
This new Little Mermaid family dark ride would help strengthen the presence of San Francisco in a park supposedly about California, especially once they tear down the droopy Golden Gate Bridge out at the entrance. Currently the only real homage to San Francisco in the park is the Golden Dreams dome, a single Churro cart painted like a cable car, and the empty San Fran row houses across the way.
So here's hoping that they stay true to their word.

Wow that's going to be so cool, and I saw the ride on DVD that's why I thought it would be a good idea.

I noticed that the Wiki article didn't mention any Hong Kong stuff, and it is quite extensive as we've outlined in our Lost Lands page:
http://homepage.hkdlsource.com/park/lostlands
Rides/Lands never built (and were announced in the original 1999 press release) include:
Frontierland, which would have included:
- A Fort
- Grizzly River Rapids
- It's Tough to Be a Bug
- Haunted Mansion
Toon Town, which would have included:
- Mickey's House Meet and Greet
- Minnie's House
- Donald's Boat
- Gadget's Go Coaster
Other attractions would have included:
- Peter Pan's Flight
- A Little Mermaid Attraction
- Jungle Rollercoaster
- Boneyard
- The Magic Carpets of Aladdin
13 attractions that didn't make the final park. Can you imagine what the attitude to HKDL would have been if it had been built with all of that? I weep at the missed possibilities...

When I went there I only spent a few hours in it, even though the queues were exeptionally long ! It's way too small, but I really liked Philarmagic and The Jungle Cruise, I hope they expand HKDL really soon, coz my aunt has got a clothes business there so I get to accompany her with my sister annually for company, but I'm sure we won't go to the park unless they make it bigger. Hope they consider the Little Mermaid ride.
