This thread will be used to discuss the upcoming DVD for the fifth Harry Potter movie, and will be updated as details come in.

00:00:13:08 - "NEVILLE SPEAKS UP FOR HARRY"
00:00:26:02 - "STEADY CAM AROUND"

00:00:21:06 - "FILTCH BLOWS ON UMBRIDGE'S HAIR"
00:01:47:14 - "HARRY, HERMIONE, AND UMBRIDGE - EXTENDED"
00:00:37:22 - "HARRY ENTERS"
00:01:07:23 - "HARRY AND RON PACKING"

ETA: 8/30/07
Thanks to Kelvin's tip, the following is speculated to be included, but there have been no "official" words and I have yet to find them on BBFC:

- Conversations with the Cast
- Reflections on the Fifth Film
- The Noble House of Black
- A New Order
- Ministry Mysteries
- Flight of the Phoenix
- Theatrical Trailers
- EA Game Demo

(ETA: 9/07/07 - with the specs in from DVDActive/DVDTimes, thanks to azul017, the above featurettes may or may not encompass the vague "Focus Points" notation in the DVDActive and DVDTimes articles)

ETA: 8/31/07
Thanks to netty and dottie, the following is possibly included, as there are two veritable sources:

From BBFC:
The Hidden Secrets of Harry Potter - an A&E tv-special that aired July 8, 2007. (43:50)

From CineFacts:
-"Following Tonks"
-"The Hidden Secrets of Harry Potter"
-"Harry Potter": The Magic of Editing

ETA: 9/07/07
Thanks to azul017, a news article from DVDActive confirms the following features, while an article from DVDTimes provides more in-depth descriptions:
--Deleted Dramatic Clips: 10 minutes of additional scenes
--A&E documentary: "The Hidden Secrets of Harry Potter" - In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, mystery pervades every corner of the story. Take a thrilling look back through the previous movies in search of clues to the mysteries of the Harry Potter saga.
--"Trailing Tonks" - spend a day with actress Natalia Tena and receive a very wacky and very personal tour of the Order of the Phoenix stages
--Focus Points - Enjoy these fun and fascinating "making of" featurettes to discover just what is involved to create those amazing scenes and characters.
--Fun and Games: "The Magic of Editing" - director David Yates and editor Mark Day show us what a difference a good edit makes and allows you to edit a scene.

--No trailers are confirmed for this release, making it the first Harry Potter film to not include its original theatrical trailer.

In addition to those features for the two-disc set, the Harry Potter 1-5 Limited Edition Giftset will include "a bonus disc containing over 2 hours of enhanced content", among other materials.

Pictures of the packaging for the two-disc SE of the fifth film, as well as the Limited Edition giftset with all the different swag, gubbins, and new digipak packaging for the movies...

It does say 'Deleted Dramatic Clips' so I assume/hope there will be more but in other areas of the DVD.

Wouldn't it be smarter to skip this edition and wait for the Deluxe Edition set WB has been talking about?

Trelawny eating does sound dramatic. I hear had that scene been kept in, a Best Actress Academy Award would have been a shoo-in for Emma Thompson.

mugglenet.com is also reporting on the DVD and detais that have leaked.
Apparently it'll include 10 minutes worth of deleted scenes which is IMHO not enough, since the movie lost about 40 minutes.
Does that mean a Director's cut will someday appear?

I hope they go back with the 2 DISC only edition instead of the 1 DISC with no features and the 2 DISC which costs more just because it is a 2 DISC. With GoF, I waited until it had been on DVD for several months before buying the 2 DISC edition. It was still $22.99 at the time.

I wish the movie had included a little more run time.

Unless they purposely did this to prepare for the mega long 7th movie?

I'm taking all DVD news for this film with a grain of salt (except the BBFC deleted scenes). The cover art circulating around MuggleNet and The Leaky Cauldron looks too photoshopped. My reasons:

* The top and bottom of the front cover are pixelated and uneven, like if someone quickly cut and pasted the border from the Goblet of Fire DVD.

* The disc art simply replicates the domestic teaser and theatrical posters. All of the Potter DVDs have had disc art that mostly replicates the DVD cover for disc one, and some sort of unique art for disc two.

* The layout of the back cover art is too similar to Goblet of Fire's. WB has been pretty consistent with the package artwork of the Potter films, but they still manage to give each film its own style.

* The list of features seems somewhat paltry, even for Potter DVD standards. Not just that, but all of the featurette titles are italicized. Although that's proper grammar, WB often doesn't italicize featurette titles.

* Two of the bonus features are titled just like Goblet of Fire's, with one of them being edited to suit this film ("Conversations with the Cast" and "Reflections on the Fifth Film").

* WB doesn't usually list trailers on the back of their Potter DVDs. They did with Prisoner of Azkaban, but that was only because that DVD contained trailers for the first three films rather than just Azkaban. Also, WB is getting more stingy lately with trailers. They usually only include one trailer nowadays (unless it's a catalogue title). This supposed Phoenix DVD, though, mentions plural. Heck, some WB DVDs like 300 don't even have their respective trailers.

If anything, this supposed ad for the Brazilian DVD looks more convincing to me: http://www.thesnitch.net/site/images3/c ... dvd807.jpg

As for the deleted scenes, the weak list doesn't surprise me. I knew ever since Prisoner of Azkaban's DVD release that WB was holding off deleted scenes for each film for extended editions. The only Potter film to have all of its deleted scenes show up on DVD was Chamber of Secrets. Sorcerer's Stone is missing about 13 minutes of footage not on DVD, Prisoner of Azkaban about 8, Goblet of Fire about 14, and from the looks it, Order of the Phoenix about 30.

The reason I know this is because each director has said their respective films originally ran about three hours in the first edits, except for Prisoner of Azkaban (which had most of its edits done in the scripting process). Still, I figured Azkaban lost about 10-12 minutes' worth based on the final draft of the script that's on imsdb.com, with most of those unused script portions confirmed by actors to have been filmed.

I'm really hoping WB doesn't wait until the Deathly Hallows DVD release (which should be winter of 2010 since the movie's coming out summer that year) to do extended editions. At the latest, they should release extended editions of 1-6 right before Deathly Hallows is released to theaters. That way, fans get the complete filmed Potter saga on DVD before heading for the big finale in theaters.

Here's a page with promotional stills from some of the cut footage (translated from a French message board via Google translator): Click!

It seems that pic 7 is the "Neville Speaks Up for Harry" bit on the DVD (most definitely during the scene where Harry and Seamus argue). "Harry Enters" could be either pics 8 or 9. Since the deleted scenes list seems to be in chronological order, then the "Harry Enters" scene is probably pic 9, the one of him entering Dumbledore's office after the battle.

Escapay, Escapay, Escapay. How you've let me down. But more importantly you've let yourself down. You just haven't researched the BBFC well enough!

Or an A&E tv special (aired July 8, 2007) that covered the first four films for "clues" to what may happen in the 7th book, along with a preview for the fifth movie. And like the following previous specials, likely won't carried over to the DVD (well, the kiddie version, though I hope it'll be part of the eventual Extended Editions):

Harry Potter: Behind the Magic (2001, NBC)
J.K. Rowling: Harry Potter and Me (2002, BBC)
Inside Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005, A&E)

:P

Well, it is presumably coming to a DVD soon, being as it's been classified for one. Warners have to pay for the classification!

It could possibly be for a newspaper giveaway, but I still think it will be on the new Harry Potter release.

I wish *my* newspapers would give away free DVDs!

Funny, I didn't know they had to pay to have something classified. I always thought that was just part of the distribution process for any film in the UK.

Here's what is known about the German DVD of OotP:
There's cover-art too.

http://www.cinefacts.de/dvd/db/details.php?id=37961

I'll translate the bonus features for you:

Deleted scenes
"Following Tonks" (kinda hard to translate)
"The hidden secrets of Harry Potter" (I think Netty is right about it appearing on this DVD)
"Harry Potter": The magic of editing (?, not sure if that is translated correctly it could also be the "magic of cutting, or the cut...something along those lines)

Thanks, Dottie!

Now I'm really hoping that the documentary really does get included.

Now the German DVD cover is something I expect to see similarly done when Warners announces the R1 edition (and it will most likely be another Warners dual release with a single-disc edition available separately). And it looks a lot better than the Swedish or the domestic one-sheet, for one. (Or something like the Portuguese DVD.)

I'm crossing my fingers that Warners let David Yates record a commentary for the film (since he did one for Girl in the Cafe), but they'll probably save it for the inevitable extended editions. But none of the DVD details for any of the overseas DVDs haven't mentioned a thing about any. :(

The cover art remindes me too much of Goblet Of Fire's Cover art.
Too bad those deleted sence arn't sence that were cut from the book.

- "The Hidden Secrets of Harry Potter"

Seriously?? Only 10 minutes of deleted scenes, when approximately 30 minutes were cut?? I had hoped this wasn't true.
Well, the rest of the Bonus features sounds nice, especially the one with Natalia Tena, since her role in the movie was so small.
The cover is awesome, though!

Oooo I'm likin the cover art! Much better than the fake cover that was "leaked". Glad to see the Voldemort-orb motif make it to the cover. The features sound pretty good (seemingly an improvement over the last DVD's). *crossesfingers*commentary*crossesfingers*

I know Escapay will be thrilled about this release, because it seemingly omits the theatrical trailers (at least from what the initial specs say) and that the extras will have optional English SDH subtitles!

WTF!!! As much as I enjoy the HP franchise, I'm not gonna rebuy the first four films just to get a bonus disc! DAMMIT!
