As the title estates, post here the Disney films you dearly love not because of the story, characters and music but because of the animation and artistic design. The Disney films are filled with majestic animation and beautiful character design. While nearly all of them feature rock solid stories and unforgettable characters some of them are vastly remembered for their animated qualities.

My two main Disney films would be Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty.

Cinderella is an overall enchanting film but its the animation and design that always enthralls me. I just love the character design. I love how realistic human design like Cinderella's blends so well with the cartoony ones, like the mice and the step sisters. I like the costume design with Cinderella's ball dress being the best design I've ever seen in an animated feature.

The backgrounds are beautiful. They are artistic and surreal yet are very romantic, colorful and adds to the magic of the story (the best scenes are the ball sequence and the "This is love" sequence with Cindy and the prince).

I love the art style so much that if I ever make a 2D animated film I will draw lots of inspiration from this movie.

Sleeping Beauty would be second. I admit the character design is a tad weak (except for Maleficent, she is brilliant!) but the backgrounds! They are so amazing! The animation is really good as well, save for some inconsistency issues (like the eye color one I posted about a few months ago).

First of all, I have to say that I'm a fan of Pixar. I just love the animation in those movies. Maybe because it looks more real than 2D. Anyway, that's not the point here! So besides the Pixar movies, here
are the movies I love for their animation:

Aladdin
This movie is one of the best animated movie I've ever seen. The backgrounds are simply amazing. The characters are so well drawn and
I really love all of them. I also love their facial expressions, I even thought they were real when I was a kid!

Atlantis
Don't ask me why but I really love this movie, I love the animation and the backgrounds. It feels magical to me each time I watch it. The first time I saw it I was really impressed.

Bambi II
I didn't want to watch it at first because I didn't like Bambi but, one night, I was bored and decided to watch it. I was so impressed. I liked the story and I loved the animation. That one is definately in my top list for the animation. I think that Bambi was such a dark movie but Bambi II was really colorful and I appreciated that.

Pocahontas
Hercules

Three diferrent wonderful, unique styles of animation. Sleeping Beauty is just magical and classy, Pocahontas is nothing less than breathtaking and Hercules is delightfully playful. I love those three films for their animation because it feels like 3 new schools of animation were created through them. Like a trademark or sthing.

I always find the movies from the 1950's having the best animation with beautifully detailed backgrounds and the character designs are all amazing.

Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Lady and the Tramp and Sleeping Beauty. All of those have incredible animation, especially Sleeping Beauty, for me the animation and the music get the high points in that movie, and to this day those movies never seem dated, well I guess after it's all restored an stuff.

i'm a fan of realistic animation, hated the way Hercules and Atlantis looked.

The only that comes to mind is Pocahontas. I loved that movie for it's great animation excellent character design and its music. Story-wise i find it a bit slow-paced and yes, even boring. It lacks the craft on the story that other Disney movies had. I dunno , maybe it's just me.

I could tell you though a few Disney movies that are not in my "top 10" just because of their certain stylistic approach or character design i didn't like. I want the best from both worlds.

I love the way they captured the mystique of the Beast's castle in Beauty & the Beast, also the Evil Queen's castle also capture's that dark but very appealing quality in the animation of Snow White & the 7 dwarves. I wish Disney would build them in their parks one day, it would be so cool !

Well, here's my opinion...

101 Dalmatians (1961)
Love it how they used new xerography animation technologies.

The Jungle Book (1967)
Even though it's Walt's last film (even when the film released the year after Walt's death), it had good background, etc.

Aladdin (1992)
The background is neat, not to mention the characters.

Chicken Little (2005)
I know either one of you hate this film. But, I disagree. For my opinion, it's the greates Disney film to the extreme. It's also in Disney's Animated Classic canon to be put in CGI.

Let's see... I suppose a good answer would be a film like The Three Caballeros.

A good description of that movie would be "animators gone wild." We have the Disney greats in their prime just going nuts with characters, effects, colors, shapes, flashy special effects. The paintings in it are also a real treat. Sometimes, I just find myself wowed by the colors.

The movie's not much for plot at all, but it's definitely a lot of eye (and ear) candy.

Pocahontas has enthralled me since I first saw it.

It never ceases to amaze me how beautifully crafted it is!
It is my favorite Disney movie, and always will be :]

Also, there is a place where I used to live in Alabama about an Indian girl named Noccalula.

Everytime I go there it reminds me of Pocahontas because Noccalula jumped off a mountain by a waterfall.

So yes, that is one of the reasons why I love Pocahontas.

No this isnt my list of favorite animated films, though most of them are on there. I chose the ones whose animation styles I enjoyed. And they are different varities.

CHICKEN LITTLE

the designs r cheap excuse for simple rendering and modelling.especially chicken little. as for robinsons' simplistic future look. its just a blob with leaves texturing and mapping on it to symbolizes a bush. heck even an amateur animator can model that. but i applaud robinsons for its wonderful character animation especially that for bowler hat guy.

I would have to give it to 4 movies:

Cinderella - I remember reading that the company was criticized for its overally glossy animation in the 1950's but I find it spectacular! The shot of the hall when Cindy opens the curtains before preparing breakfast - wow! just wow!

The Little Mermaid - I love it. It's like a combination of the classic 1950's style and the more modern style of the 1990's. The underwater scenes are breathtaking - the main titles, the shark attack, under the sea, poor unfortunate souls. Then Eric's kingdom was drawn remarkably well. I love the 2 storm as well, they were so well executed.

Beauty and the Beast - Even today, some 16 years (wow!!!) after its release, some of the animation is still jaw-dropping! My only complaint is that Belle's face looks way off in some of the scenes.

Pocahontas - I totally dislike the "savages" part toward the end, animation-wise, but most of the movie is drawn beautifully.

Sleeping Beauty - Come on, how can you not include that? Never mind the story problems, the art alone makes this movie fantastic.

Meet the Robinsons - Not the best thing they've done art-wise, but I love the candy-coated colors of the future, the fun character designs, and the general William Joyce vibe throughout.

The Rescuers - I think this is more nostalgia for me than an actual appreciation of the art, but I love the gloomy watercolors. It just has such great atmosphere.

Atlantis: The Lost Empire - Okay, so the film's plot itself is a mess, but having Mike Mignola do work on this film fits in perfectly with what they were trying to do. At the very least, you can watch the great visuals and listen to an excellent score.

Fantasia & Fantasia/2000 - Well, duh. Nothing really to hate here.

I think it's more the characters,Philip is a prince,exept The Beast and Aladdin the princes don't got a lot of personality,but Aurora? and Malifacent? the Princesses and Villians need the spotlight more then anyone.

In this case, neither does the princess. Aurora had no character development. She's the one of the most "flat" disney princesses.

Snow White is not flat.
and Aurora has character devolpment-she's later takes her place as a princess,she's not flat,she's just dosn't get a lot of spotlight like the other Princesses.

Hunchback of Notre Dame for me!!
