For those of you lucky enough to own a Nintendo Wii, have you seen the new Mario game due out this November? The game is called Mario Galaxy and it looks awesome.
Here is a link to the website where you can view the trailer and see screen shots from the game. I for one think it look incredible, the graphics are amazing. I love Mario games and this looks like it will be a really good one. It does look a little complex, but for Mario, I'm up to the challenge.
What do you think, let's discuss...

I think I wish it came out in March like it was supposed to! I got my Wii on release day and was so excited for this game. I think the big catch with this one is how confusing the controls and gameplay are going to be. If the controls are hard to get used to, or it feels like you're aimlessly shooting through space with no idea where you're going then it's going to be disappointing.
I have to say though, I have yet to play a mario game that I didn't like, so I'm hoping this one is just as good. I have high expectations for Nintendo's official releases.

its one of those games i wanted to get the wii for, although i;m not sure, because i didn't like mario subshine, but its just one of those games you can't pass on, its mario!!!

Same here! I thought Mario 64 was a little hard at first, but once I got used to it I really liked it. You really can't go wrong with Super Mario Bros. and hopefully that will continue to be the case with Super Mario Galaxy. I'm sure it might be a little hard to figure out exactly what you're doing at first, but I'm sure with time (and a couple glances at some cheats and help sites) everything will make sense and it will be a fun challenge.

Been looking forward to it since it was first announced. Mario games are always great, and hopefully this one will be the same way.
Metroid Prime 3, Mario Galaxy, Smash Bros Brawl, etc... The next few months are going to be pretty exciting on the Wii.
Super Mario Galaxy: Official Discussion Thread.

I know that we have the Wii thread, and it's a great thread to discuss all things Wii. However, I feel that
Super Mario Galaxy deserves a thread of its own. This is a HUGE title being released, and it is one of the most highly anticipated for the Nintendo Wii.
In this thread, we can discuss anything related to the game: reviews, store prices, store exclusives, and discussion of our thoughts on the game. As such, spoilers are likely. Please be aware of that, when reading through this thread.

Ya know
MadonnasManOne I thought about making a separate thread for this as well, so I'm glad you took it upon yourself, because you probably did a better job than I would have.
I think the videos look amazing, this game looks like it is going to be a lot of fun. I'm just hoping it isn't too challenging. Parts of it look like it might be kind of hard, but I think it probably won't be too difficult. Mario has been around for a long time, and the games are usually fun for all ages. I remember thinking Mario 64 looked really hard, but once I played it and got used to it, it wasn't really that hard. I'm hoping this will be the same.
One thing that I noticed, that you forgot to mention is the FREE Mario collectors coin. I know many retailers were offering the FREE collectors coin when you reserve your copy of Mario Galaxy. It is kind of last minute now, with the game being released on Monday and all, but you can still reserve your copy up until the day before. There is more information on this at the game's official site:
Mario Galaxy Official Website
The reviews for this game are great, and like you said, it is definitely one of the most, if not THE most anticipated Wii games yet. I will be picking up my copy on Monday morning, and since I don't have work or school that day, I'll be playing ALL day! I can't wait!

Thanks,
Simba3. I'm actually at work, right now, so, I ended up submitting the thread before I was done with it. I intended to put in the information on the pre-order coin. I did my pre-order at Target, back when I picked up
I Love Lucy: The Complete Series.
As far as prices go, here are the current deals I have seen, so far:
Toy's R Us: $49.99. Free $25.00 Gift Card with Purchase. Yes, you read that right! They are doing the Pre-order with Collectible Coin. However, I spoke to a lady last night, who said that they may not have enough of the coins to go around, and therefore, they may substitute a Wii Remote Glove, instead of the coin.
Target: Pre-Order Coin. In store price: Not yet available
Wal-Mart: Pre-order coin, available online. In store price: $39.94. Someone at IGN.com posted an ad that shows this price.
If anyone else has information on pricing, please feel free to post!

I tried the Super Mario Galaxy demo at a GameStop and it seems pretty fun. The graphics are really cool and bright and the controls were good. I cannot wait to rent it at my local video store.

Right now, I'm a little confused. The official release date for Super Mario Galaxy is listed as November 12, 2007. It even says so on the official website. Circuit City, Wal-Mart, and Amazon all have that date on their website for the release date as well. However, Best Buy's website has the release date slated for the following day, November 13th.
I was at Best Buy today and I asked someone working in the video game department about this. I informed him that the official release date is November 12th and that other retailers were advertising selling the game one that date. He still informed me that their release date was November 13th and they wouldn't be selling it until that date. Somehow, I'm thinking/hoping this gentleman was misinformed. I can't believe Best Buy would allow one of the biggest video games of the year to be sold at all other retailers for one full day before selling it themselves.
I will be really disappointed if this is true (which I'm thinking/hoping it's not) because I would really like to buy it there. I am partial to Best Buy because I have a Rewards Zone Card and items like this rack up fast on there.
*On a side note, MadonnasManOne do you (or anyone else here) know if Best Buy does price matches?

I'm sorry to inform you,
Simba3, that the guy at Best Buy is right. With games, release dates don't necessarily mean that the game will be in the store on that date. It usually means that the game can be sold starting that day, but, often times, the stores won't get their shipment until the next day. So, in fact, stores will have an ad that says, "Guaranteed in store by 11/13 by 5:00 p.m.", for example. Some stores may actually have it for sale by that date, but, don't expect every store to. It's always been that way. You might check with that Best Buy, on Monday, but, don't be surprised if they don't have it, yet.
Also, Best Buy does price match. You must have the ad, and the ad must be for a retailer in that area.

Thanks so much
MadonnasManOne you are so informative, as always! Well, that stinks, I would much rather buy from Best Buy, but if they don't have it for sale on Monday, I will probably go elsewhere. I've been waiting TOO LONG for this game, and I just have to get my hands on it. Hopefully tomorrows ads will clear up which retailers will have the game when. I might have to make some calls Monday before heading out.

Best Buy lists the game for $49.99 and says it will be available by 2:00pm on Tuesday. They don't appear to have any in-store incentives.
Circuit City Advertises the game for $49.99. Their AD says the game will be available on Monday. They also do not advertise and in-store incentives.
Target advertises the game for $49.99 also, with no apparent incentives. Their ad says the game will be available on November 14th. However, it does say that the date is subject to change.
K-Mart has is listed for $49.99 as well with no in-store incentives.

This is true, I saw it in this weeks ad. The ad says that the game will be available for sale on Tuesday.

Got out of work today (skipped my classes by the way) and went to Best Buy and bought my copy of Super Mario Galaxy. I just played it for about an hour and let me tell you, it is SO FUN! I was a little worried that it would be hard to play, or hard to figure out - but it's not, at all! Everything is explained very well as you play though the game and a lot of it just comes to you as you play. I haven't had much interaction with the nunchuk controller, but that is pretty simple to master as well. These Mario games never cease to amaze me. The graphics are out of this world (no pun intended - well, maybe!) and it is a lot of fun! If anyone else has gone out and picked up this game and given it a play, I'd love to know what you think. So far I think it is GREAT and lots of FUN!

They were out of stock at Sam's Club and Wal-Mart today. I'm going to try to pickup a copy somewhere later in the week.

I will. I guess you would call me a Mario fan. Pretty much every Mario game that has ever been released I love, so I'm really looking forward to Galaxy.
I read something about Galaxy also using WiiConnect24? What does it use it for?

Yippeeeee! I just got home. After work, I stopped by Toy's R Us to pick up my pre-order. After a little scare with the Collectible Coin (the guy handing out the game said they were out of it), I got my the game, the $25.00 Gift Card, and the Collectible Coin! I'm just now putting the game in, and getting ready to experience Super Mario Galaxy for the first time!

I've been playing off and on all day and I am loving it. So much fun, and not complicated at all. I am anxious to hear what you think of it. Make sure you fill me on on your thoughts for the game.
