So from reading various threads on this board, is this what the schedule looks like for upcoming Disney DVD (animated) releases for the rest of 2007 and 2008?
Here's what I got:
The Jungle Book - Oct 2, 2007
Meet the Robinsons - Oct 23, 2007
The Aristocats - March 2008
101 Dalmations - March 2008
Sleeping Beauty - Oct 2008
Is there more?

I've seen the schedule and I know they're all TBA but does anybody have any idea if or when we'll see the following DVD's?
Ducktales Vol. 3
Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers Vol. 3
Tail Spin Vol. 2
Gummi Bears Vol. 2

I definitely am curious about those and hopefully other Disney animated series releases. However, right now I'm wondering if Little Mermaid 3 and the TinkerBell movie are still coming out. Not that I've bothered to do a search on it anywhere. I've been out of touch for a while.

What's the deal with the classic back-catalogue releases? I'm wondering if we'll ever get "Fighting Prince of Donegal", "The Horsemasters", "Charley and the Angel", etc.
It seems like ages since we've had any real Disney DVD releases.

Cool it, soldier. They be coming soon. Pinocchio is likely March '09, and hopefully Fantaisa will follow in October. If you can't wait, they've both been released in one disc versions, and the Fantasia one is pretty solid.

Would think Snow White is more likely in Oct 09 than Fantasia.
Would expect Fantasia to follow in Mar 10 and Beauty and the Beast in Oct 10.
If they released Fantasia in Oct 09, that would mean 2 Princess movies in 2010, and I think it's more likely they'll be spaced out. As you say, Fantasia has already been fairly well served on DVD, and a lot of people missed out on Snow White first time around.
I see Sleeping Beauty being the primer for Animated Classics on Blu Ray next year, following which, they'll start to roll out more of the Classics in the new format.

I'm pretty sure that a lot of people missed out on "The Fantasia Anthology" as well. It only came out a year or two after "Snow White" did, and DVD really didn't take rocket until 2003/2004/2005. "Snow White" has also had a wonderful DVD set, and if you do not include "Fantasia 2000" in the mix, SW and "Fantasia" have relatively the same amount of bonus features. I believe that "Fantasia" should definitely be re-released before SW returns as a new DVD/Blu-Ray set. But, seeing as that won't happen, and Disney isn't the brightest in the bunch, we will likely see "Snow White" before we see "Fantasia". Though "Fantasia" could really use a better restoration. Is it just me, as most people seem to disagree, that the transfer for "Fantasia" was not very clean at all, and looks quite a bit worse than "Snow White"? I think that "Fantasia" should get a restoration and be released to markets before SW. That's just my opinion, though.

Actually, the Fantasia Anthology came out November of 2000, almost a whole year before Snow White. Chalk that up as another reason it should be re-released before Snow. Oh, and yeah, I agree that the restoration work on Fantasia shows its age. The picture's pretty grainy and looks a bit soft on occasion. I expect Lowry will restore it for the Platinum release (assuming they haven't already done it, and it's just lying around waiting to be released).

Honestly, I really believe that Fantasia NEEDS to be rereleased on it's Platinum before SW. There seems to be a much bigger demand for Fantasia than for Snow White in terms of new releases. I actually have friends who would love to get a Fantasia DVD set, and aren't nearly as big of Disney freaks as I am (if at all). On the other hand, I don't know any one (other than those on UD, of course!) who want a new edition of Snow White to be released ASAP. And besides, Fantasia has so much more going for it than Snow White. SW only has 2 things on its side: 1- It was the first Disney Animated Feature Film. 2- It's a princess film. And besides, for those of us who are collectors, the SW Platinum is already known as one of the best (if not, THE best) platinum in the series with an astounding restoration and a heap of bonus features. I believe that Snow White will just get a stright rerelease showcasing the same features and restoration, but can also be purchased on Bluray (despite the fact that I think that BR will die, as will HDDVD...)
Fantasia, however, has an OK restoration, but could have been better. And the bonus features
on the Anthology set were superb, but the Anthologies were available for such a short amount of time and would have cost people around $50-$100 (I can't remember exactly how much it was...) at the time and so very few people (save collectors) bought the set.
And, not to mention the Sunflower / censoring issue needs to be revisited. I really wish Disney would release 2 Platinums for Fantasia: A Cut (Censored) set and a Uncut/Unedited set, each containing the exact same features and everything. (Though, in a perfect world, I would like a small featurette on the uncut set about the censorship of the Pastoral Symphony throughout the years...but that won't likely happen).
Not to mention, it seems Fantasia is only released every 10 years...(1990= 50th Anniversary VHS/(Laserdisk?) release; 2000= 60th Anniversary DVD / Anthology Set). So, at that rate, we won't see Fantasia again until 2010 for it's "70th Anniversary Platinum Edition"...

Meet the Robinsons is coming later this year.
As for the Fantasia/Snow White argument...I'd rather see Snow White first.
1). I don't have it on anything but VHS(and it's pretty worn)
2). I like it more.
3). A lot of people missed out on the 2001 release(like me) and really really want it.

Ok, I personally respect your opinion.

But, seeing as your from the US, you should look into getting the curent platinum through Gamestop. That's where I got my copy and its virtually perfect. And if your Gamestop doesn't have a copy of SW while a store within a 200 mile radius has one, you can always have it transfered to your store. And then you can avoid paying +$40, and only pay $16.99 for it. I know you might want to resist buying the current set because it will likely be released in 2 years or less, but the chances are always good that Disney will remove features from this set. If this happens, you might regret not getting the current set later on.
Oh, and just as a small correction, Snow White: PE was released in 2001, not 2003.

2003 was the release of The Lion King.

I'd rather have a Snow White Blu Ray release in 2009 and Fantasia in March 2010. But personally, as they start rolling stuff out on Blu Ray, I'd rather see them ditch the 2 Platinum's a year policy and move it up to 3 or 4. 7 or 8 years is too long to wait to get them all in Hi Def.

I would like to see Saludos Amigos and Three Caballeros get a re-release soon, since the Gold Collection versions of both went out of print earlier this year.
This would be the perfect opportunity to restore the footage that was chopped from SA on the first release. And now that they are talking about putting "public service announcements" in front of their DVDs involving smoking (just as Leonard Maltin has done intros for the "controversial" shorts on the treasures tins), there is no reason NOT to put these two films (and the other package films like Make Mine Music and Melody Time) back out on DVD UNCENSORED this time.

That's a very good point, and I
HOPE you're right!!! Does anyone here think that Disney really would release these movies in their original form, as long as they have a public service announcement at the beginning?!?!?!?!
I wonder, if these public service announcements go over well, if Disney will release the uncensored "Fantasia" and "Song of the South", and put a public service announcement about a) the fact that these movies were made in the 1940s, and b) one about how we should get along with everyone, or something to that affect. Oooh, I'm getting so excited right now, and I might get my hopes up...oh, the possibilities!!!!!

With Blu Ray coming in, you're potentially going to see alot of OOP stuff on the secondary market as people make way for Hi Def versions. I've cleared out a lot of DVD's (though no Animated Classics or Treasures!)
