All the literature that I've read from Disney makes it sound like only regular priced movies count towards your requirements. I'm pretty sure this means that even if it's still over the minimum price with the discount, it won't count because it's not "regular" price.
EDIT: Found this on the website near a discount code:
*Your highest priced title counts as your regularly priced movie. Your regular-priced DVD must be $24.95 or more. Additional movies on your order of equal or lesser value will have the 20% discount applied. Merchandise, multipacks, special Club Deals, and CDs not included. Discounted titles are limited to 3 units per title, and do not count toward purchase commitment.

But in the American DMC, the regular-priced DVDs are $19.95 or higher (this doesn't really answer the question at all, but I figured I'd point that out).

You might want to call and double check. I know when I ordered a Treasures set, I used a discount but because it still ended up above $19.95 it counted against my purchase commitment.

hmm...i always wonder how well the conversation and whole situation on the phone with a rep is?? any feedback on how the convo goes??? i hate calling and waiting on hold and going through 10 million computer voices...ugh. but if i can get a discount on a treasure and have it count towards the contract it would be sugar sweet...

I actually like calling the DMC. They're always super friendly and willing to help! Some of them haven't always heard of all the movies before, but they always are really nice and helpful.
(Oh, and a side note: the phone number to call to talk with an actual person is 1-888-257-9100, which is the New Member Enrollment Line, but any member can call it...or even non-member for that matter.)

I actually didn't ask about it, I just called and placed the order (It was for Silly Symphonies, so I wanted to call ASAP in case they sold out again) and then when I got my next card in the mail my status had changed from 1 title left to VIP.

wow! that's really interesting to know! Everything that I've read from them stresses that you cannot get credit for discounted movies. Maybe I'll just call and ask then. They sent me a 25% off code so if that's the case I can get credit for some more expensive things.
