In addition to some absolutely horrid cover art. This is even worse then Bugs and the blow up doll but I am sure the content will be excellent as always.
Luke, I dont think you have a problem with linking off topics to other boards but my apologies in advance if you do.

That's the worst cover art yet. However, the content is always good on these sets.
I'm hoping for some more on the (vastly underrated) Bob Mckimson, and a documentary Chuck Jones.

Thanks, Mr. Toad for sharing the artwork of Looney Tunes Golden Collection Volume Five. I think the DVD will come out in late October or early November.

Wow...now THAT is a horrible coverart! I just hope that WB does some fine tuning to it before the set is released!!
But despite the coverart, I'm VERY excited about this upcoming set! The Golden Collection sets are always fully loaded with not only shorts but also bonus features. I unfortunately only have Volume 2, but I'm planning on getting the other 3 volumes before volume 5 comes out. That way, I can be fully caught up!
When do you guys think we'll get more of a press release on this set including the full listing of shorts to be included in V5?

Warner Brothers does not take the usual release strategy with this one. Normally studios are very tight lipped and dont want any information out there before the actual release. However, with the Golden Collecion they usually leak a bunch of information. This year we got a screen cap contest. 24 screen caps where you had to identify the cartoons. For all the times I have seen these cartoons its not really my type of game. I was only able to identify Abonimable Snow Rabbit and A Star is Bored. However, the historian types over at GAC and Animation History seemed to come to a concensus on all 24.

I agree with everyone, that artwork is AWFUL!!!! Bugs is off-model and it is just too plain. It makes the volume 3 artwork seem good.
Still no sign of the short "Design for Leaving"? That's one of my favorite Looney Tunes shorts.

Oh well at a minimum they are only half way done. They are going to Volume 10(and they hope to find the capacity for twice a year) and WB is open to going all they way and finishing(Volume 17)

That puts it at 1020 (60 shorts x 17 volumes.) I *THOUGHT* there were a few more cartoons, something like 1300, or even 1700...
I was going to say the Laserdiscs had ~72 cartoons each (based on only owning vol. 4), but after looking at them, they varied...
Vol. 1 - 70 cartoons, 12/11/91
Vol. 2 - 70 cartoons, 07/01/92
Vol. 3 - 70 cartoons, 12/23/92
Vol. 4 - 73 cartoons, 07/14/93 (the one I own)
Vol. 5 - 55 cartoons,
04/02/97
They released the first four every six months... One would THINK that DVDs would be as easy to release, although I can understand they are releasing many more DVDs than Laserdiscs...
After looking at the last Laserdisc release, we can only hope the series doesn't falter somewhere in the middle, and take years between releases...

I believe the number stands at 1,026 including the web shorts but not including the Hook/Snafu shorts.

I will say one thing, we should hear some news within the next week or two about the full details of this set
(as far as the DVD is concerned, it should be around late October, early November as it usually is)

What are the web shorts, and Hook shorts?
Also, weren't at least *SOME* of the Snafu shorts included in the 60 cartoons on one of the Golden Collections? It seems like that would skew the count.
I personally love the Snafu shorts, there is a whole side on the Golden Age Laserdisc box set I have...

The Hook shorts were three shorts made for the Navy much like the SNAFU shorts made for the Army.
The Web shorts were ten? shorts made for the Looney Toons site and counted by WB as Looney Tune shorts but are generally frowned upon by fans. They were issued on DVD.

Perhaps Mr Toad would oblige a thread title change.
