Okay, this is a discussion for/about the trailer before Transformers. I have searched online all over and NOTHING. All I get is that it is an unnamed production by J.J. Abrams.

The movie has the code name "Clover" and "Cloverleaf". The trailer starts with a party. A bunch of college kids having a good time. The camera is shaky, like a camcorder. And then there is a loud/growling sound and maybe an earthquake. They turn on the TV and the anchor talks about New York being crippled by a "thunderous roaring sound". The scenes then switch to the street. People screaming, running. Someone people refer to whatever it is as being alive. You see an explosion in the distance and see some object come into view, plummeting from the sky. When it hits the ground, you see its the head of the Statue of Liberty. End of trailer. NO name for the movie. Yahoo ran a story on it on its front page about how search engines are being hit by people searching for JJ's name, the date, etc. But apparently they are keeping it under tight wraps.

I have heard a few people mention Godzilla, but I doubt it. I don't see this being a Godzilla movie. I am trying to think of another monster movie where a giant animal would be attacking New York and just might throw the head of the statue like that. King Kong was already done recently. So can't be that. WTF? Any speculation on what it is? For all we know, its not even a remake. it could be a completely new thing JJ created.

I doubt it will live up to this hype though. This hype may blow up in their face.

FYI 1/18/08 will be my 29th birthday.

Everyone was murmuring when this trailer was over. I cant wait to see more of it! Im thinking maybe Godzilla, maybe not. Who knows. ARGH!!

Maybe Voltron....? I heard they are making that into a movie.

Japan. The monstrous roar. The people saying, "It's not even human." "It's alive, and it's huge!" This film has got to be Godzilla.

Also, the film is actually shot from the perspective of those experiencing the event, and resembles people shooting with camcorders.

It looks very interesting. I can't wait to find out more information!

I also can't wait for the new Star Trek film, which J.J. Abrams is filming!

Well, at the beginning of the trailer, they keep talking about Rob going to Japan. So, that's why I said Japan.

The monstrous roar sounds like Godzilla, to me. I don't know that a giant parasite would roar like that. Of course, at this point, we really don't know anything about the film, so, it could be anything.

The Parasite is something I heard before. Though when I think Parasite, I don't think of something that can blow up buildings. I read its a mix of Armeggedon and Blair Witch Project. Reminds me of 28 Days Later too. Like I said, I just hope it lives up to the hype its creating 6 months before release date.

Proposed story ideas included the discovery of a deadly prehistoric disease that the revival of the dinosaurs inflicted and which threatens to wipe out the entire human race.

Seems like a good plot... better than the third one which was just a rescue mission...

No, JP4 is not the film in question. None of the people involved with that film are involved in the film we are talking about.

The filming location for the 1/18/08 movie is NYC.
The filming location for JP4 is Hawaii.

I highly doubt they are the same.

When I first saw the trailer I thought it was a trailer for the movie 2012. Which is due to come out in a year or so I guess. 2012 is about the end of the world which apparently is predicted on the Mayan calander, as well as other ancient calanders around the world predict 2012 as being something very big and very bad. But I guess this movie isn't it, as its something "alive".

Maybe a live action movie of the video game Rampage?

That roaring sounds sounds just like that monster in LOST. I was thinking it could be a LOST film, because of the roar sound, but then I saw Paramount and LOST is owned by Disney. I don't think it's Godzilla, because it'd be too ovbious with the "Japan" refrence-which was probally put in there to make people think it was Godzilla.

I agree, the insertion of the Japan line may be a red herring. To try and keep people off the trail. I wonder how long before one of two things happen.

1.) Its leaked what the movie is about
2.) They bring out a trailer with a better explaination before it gets leaked

Its a lot harder these days to keep a secret in Hollywood. And they have to watch their marketing because if they push this secret too far, it may blow up in their face. Look at the USA's Godzilla release. All that "size does matter" marketing didn't save it. They tried too hard. Hopefully JJ has a better eye for marketing. I just really wonder if its an original story or a remake.

I don't know who Ethan is ... but these two sites are also about the movie ...

One of the sites is just a blog ... that is very odd ... and the second is an even weirder one that is sort of a game ... there are five levels with different "puzzles" ...
