I hope the rest of Boy Meets World is released on DVD. I never really liked seasons 1-4, that's why I never bought them when they were released. But I love love love season 5 and on.

Actually, season 4 never got released.
I just can't understand why
Boy Meets World didn't sell. Isn't it, like, one of the most loved television shows from the 90's? I still have to buy season 3, but I'm getting very worried we'll never see another release of the show. Perhaps when Buena Vista gets most of ABC's catalogue out of the way, they'll release the remaining four seasons.
C'mon Buena Vista, four more releases won't kill you, even if they do sell horribly. You can't release part of a show and then just quit!

According to tvshowsondvd.com Buena Vista's rights expire soon and there is hope another distributor will pick it up.

Would Buena Vista be getting one lump sum for selling the rights to these TV shows all at once, at the beginning, or will Buena Vista get a portion of the money from each set sold?
It's a shame Buena Vista is giving up on its own TV shows.

When it says that the new distributor would also be picking up the rights to seasons 1-3, does that mean they would be re-releasing them? I certainly hope not! I've waited long enough for a season four release and don't want to have to wait even longer because some other company wants to release 1-3 again.
Anywho, I'm thrilled to hear this news! Boy Meets World is one of my all-time favorite shows.

I would imagine if they are rereleased it would just be with new logos and they would not re release them if there was not new seasons to go with the old.

Re-releasing Seasons 1-3 might not be such a bad thing, especially if another studio puts more care into the product. Seasons 1 and 2 had a decent amount of bonus features, but Season 3 definitely could stand to improve. It might be wise to issue the first three or four seasons on the same date and then move onto a patterned schedule. I'm excited at the propsect of getting the remaining seasons, especially 4 and 5, on DVD. But it's lame how little faith BVHE has in its catalog TV series, especially one like BMW which is sure to sell. Still, I'll be happy to get more of the show on DVD no matter how it comes.

Interesting news. Personally, I don't really mind it if a new distribution company re-releases the first three seasons. It might give us a chance to get more than a trivia game on the third set. I might just hold off on getting season 3 right now and wait to see if a better release comes along. Regardless of what happens with the first three seasons, though, I'm just happy the chances of getting seasons 4-7 on DVD have improved.

the tvshowsondvd news is some of the best i've heard in a while. I really hope it all ends up on dvd, the show was a big spot in my heart and i hope it gets released. Ever since the season 4 dvd cancellation i resorted to recording episodes from tv and i have about 100+ gigs of BMW episodes but im hoping to just buy the season sets. i love this show.

That's true. I probably would double-dip for the Season 3 DVD if the features improved. All I really want is some more cast commentaries. Some behind-the-scenes footage would be nice, as well, but I highly doubt we'll be seeing that anytime soon.

Now that I could deal with. Like I said, I may or may not upgrade my Season 3 set, but what I really want right now is Season 4. As long as it comes out fairly soon, I'll be a happy camper.

As this is perhaps my all-time favorite show, I'm really hoping this becomes reality. Of course, I'd prefer that Disney release it themselves, but if they're not going to do that, let's allow someone else to come in and pick up the slack. Season 4 has been delayed far too long. Reissues of Seasons 1-3 could be cool, though I'd only upgrade if there were significant improvements in the extras department.

Hopefully we'll see Shout! Factory pick up the distribution contract for "Boy Meets World", and give it a nice "Freaks and Geeks" treatment when it comes to bonus features.
