Bizarre Expansion of Tokyo Disney Princess Line-up

This is old news (January - March 2007), but it hasn't been posted yet...I guess nobody knows or really cares...I don't know. I was browsing though an old Tokyo Disneyland Photo Site I used to frequent and found this year's photos of Tokyo Disneyland's annual special events. One of these events is the "Disney Princess Days." For the very first one, Minnie, Daisy, and Marie from
The Aristocats were deemed Disney Princesses. I know...Minnie and Daisy are somewhat understandable, but why the heck did Marie become a Disney Princess?
Anyhow, this year, the line-up got bigger and includes even more obscure Disney "heroines" to join the usual human Disney "princesses" along with Minnie, Daisy, and Marie:
Yup. Your eyes aren't lying. That's Clarice from "Two Chips and a Miss" and Bianca from
The Rescuers. I don't know what the Japanese are thinking, but at least they're paying homage to some lesser known Disney characters. This makes me wonder who they are going to add next year...
There's a video of the show available for download. The shows are usually in Japanese (with some songs in English) so I didn't bother downloading it since I don't understand Japanese. If anyone does, perhaps they can find out if the show explains these bizarre and obscure additions to the Disney Princess Line-up.

I saw the show last February while I was in Tokyo.
There is no explanation as to why they are there.
It really is no big deal, both Clarice and Biana are two very popular characters in Japan. So is Marie, of course.

Why aren't Cinderella, Ariel, and Jasmine in the picture?

Those three princessess are not in the show.
Cinderella has her own nightime spectacular, Cinderella's Royal Coronation. And Ariel doesn't even appear at Tokyo Disneyland, she is exclusivley at Tokyo DisneySea's Mermaid Lagoon.
Jasmine appears in Cinderellabration, but she is mostly in Tokyo DisneySea as well, in the Arabian Coast.

I doubt it. If they put Bianca, a non princess character, before two real princesses. However since the Japanese through the Cinderella Castle Mystery Tour learned about the Black Cauldron it is still possible.
For just once, I would love to see The Black Cauldron characters (and Great Mouse Detective) in the Disney parks.

I like this idea. I often grow tired of seeing the same characters in different outfits, and it seems to be the Asian parks that have a bit more fun with the characters. I know the film characters are a little bit more sacred, but the characters that originated in shorts surely deserve the same level of job motivation and turnover that the 'Classic Five' have received.
Plus, I just find Chipmunks in dresses sexy. Are we sure it isn't Chip or Dale in drag?

Hardee-har-har. It would be neat to see her included in live Cinderella shows, however.

At first I thought that was a bit bizarre, but now I look back and think it's cute. I just reliazed something, too. My family has a new kitten Sassy (who I would have named Phoebe or Paige

). I just reliazed how much she looks like Marie!

Anyway, back on topic, I like this idea, very cute. I just wonder why some cute, but un-royal animals can attend Minnie's princess ball, but a little mermaid and a royal fox can't. Hmm...
