It's official, the latin versions are coming, and to pick Mexico's Troy and Gabriella a new reality show is brewing. if there are Mexicans in this forum, you guys know La Academia, (a Mexican American Idol)
this is derivated from it, every Sunday there will be a showcase of performances and the public will vote to decide who stays, whoever gets less votes will be eliminated. The show will be hosted by La Academia's maria Inez and Disney's Zapping Zone's Roger Gonzalez (current participant in the Disney Channel Games. they did translate the dialogue of the movie, but not the songs.

i knew they would end up making this, i actually did think doing the reality show would come up, or they would get the RBD people or Belinda

I know The Lion King has been completely transfered, including songs, in three different languages, Spanish, French, and German (all of the languages at my High School have watched this movie at some point). It was probably because it was a TV movie that the songs weren't translated, though other pop stars at their repected country sang the songs in their languages. It might have also been because Disney didn't expect HSM to be such a big success.

So this new show is sorta like what they did with Grease, expect that was for broadway and in the US.

Beauty and the Beast has been too, I watched it in French class. I bet all the "Disney Classics" at least the recent ones or the ones from the recent heyday have all been fully translated.

I agree that it's probably because it was made for TV/DTV.

all animated features are transplated here in Brazil and in most countries around the world. The reason they didn't translate HSM (at least what i think it is) is that they were planning to release Vanessa's and Ashley's Albums here, plus the HSM Concert that came to Brazil and other countries in Latin America. They kept the original voices for future marketing purposes i guess. Makes sense, cause Vanessa's and Ashley's albums sold pretty good here with HSM fans.
