James Presents: New Music from Today's Pop Stars

Hey guys, the lead singer from the burlesque group the "Pussycat Dolls" is preparing to release her first solo single, imaginatively titled "Steam". It's a hip/hop meets jazz hybrid, and it's really good, if you're a big PCD fan, so I'd recommend giving it a listen. Even if you don't like the pussycat dolls (and there's quite a few of you out there), I'd still listen to it; a ton of people have said it's not what they were expecting from her as a debut single. I like it, it's probably not what people were expecting because they're still associating Nicole with PCD and what she's done with them. I wonder when/if she will release a music video for it, and what it would be like.

Yeah, I've been thinking about the new single too, when she'll release it and what the clip'll be like. It was originally set for a late 2006 release, but was pushed back to around May 07, which is now, so I'm hoping we'll see it soon. I hope we see the album "Her Name is Nicole" soon, which was set for a July 07 release, but I think she's actually focussing more on the upcoming PCD's second album, the rumour being that it'll be titled "Double the Trouble". It'll be the first with the new doll, Asia Nitollino. I think they're pushing the PCD image over he solo career, since they now that the success of PCD has a timespan, and they can put out Nicole as a solo singer successfully when the group starts going down the drain. So I'm thinking we might have a wait. I mean, if she was going to release it soon, we would've heard more about it right? But she is busy, writing new songs for her and the PCDs, doing photoshoots, touring, working on both the PCD and her stuff, so I guess I should cut her some slack.

I think they want to get the new PCD album out first since it's been 2 years now since they've done anything for cd's. Have you heard the song Winning Women feat. Rihanna? It's not that bad, I've only heard it once a couple weeks ago.

Nah, haven't heard Winning Women yet, but I do plan to. I have bad news, Steam has been confirmed by Nicole herself that it won't be her first debut single, and that it won't even appear on the album. She actually recorded it two years ago, and it was just a rumour that it would be her first single, as it leaked to the net last December. Her official first single is now due to be released to radio around July 07. That really annoys, I was looking forward to a fantastic clip, and I reckon it would've done well. Anyway, sorry to give you false info, and I'll change the title of the thread. Sorry.

Do you have any info on these? I didn't know that any of these were coming...Will the new Cheetah Girls CD be an actual studio album & not a soundtrack (I mean, I'm assuming that, since I haven't heard of TCG3 yet...)

The ones I'll more than likely get (that I've known are coming out) are:
Aly & AJ - Insomniatic
Hayden Panettiere - Untitled
High School Musical 2: Soundtrack

There may be more that I'll get, but I'm pretty sure I'll be getting those!

Well, I only have info on one- the Cheetah Girls untitled album. It won't be a soundtrack, it's going to be an actual studio album, and they've said its going to be like party songs. Sorry, don't have info on the others. I would't count them as official, but I saw them on a site and thought I should post them here.

Hey guys, I would've posted this in the Hilary Duff News Thread topic, but barely anyone goes there, and I want people to see this, so I created a separate thread for it. Hilary Duff's new music video has premiered earlier than expected and here it is- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPtn8LpFzpA
Please, please, PLEASE go and see, it's possibly her best video yet, and it shows off her great acting. It's also a great song, she looks so hot in it, and she is a grea dancer too, evident in her skillful belly-dancing. :P
Anyway, check it out, it's my favourite video of hers.

I liked it, but I was looking for a resolution to the 'With Love' video ala Mariah Carey's It's Like That/We Belong Together videos. I love the song though, she looked great.

Sure, no problem guys. I was hoping for a resolution to With Love as well MutantEnemy, but I think this video makes up for it not resolving the previous one. Though, watching it, the guy does look a bit like the guy from the With Love video and it might be meant to be them both a bit older, and the relationship falling apart or something. Oh well, that's my theory on it. Here's some background info on it from Wikipedia, and even though it could be false, it's pretty solid, since her page is semi-locked from editing, and you need an accurate source to post there.
Stranger was rumored to be about Duff and her relationship with her ex-boyfriend, Joel Madden;Entertainment Weekly wrote, "When the fairy-tale romance between [Duff and Madden] went belly-up late last year, the Good Charlotte frontman speedily rebounded into the twiglike arms of Nicole Richie, and the world moved on. Duff, it seems, did not, and hell hath no fury like a young woman scorned."

According to Duff, the song is actually about how she thought her mother feels around her father, who had an extramarital affair with another woman. Duff said she wrote "Stranger" to appear to be about one of her own relationships, because she didn't want people to know about the strained relationship between her parents. "But I've realized that so many people can relate to what I've gone through", she said. Another song on the album, "Gypsy Woman", was inspired by the same situation.

In Duff's blog she told her fans that they could vote for her next single, and "Stranger" amassed the most votes. Duff started promoting the song with performances on Jimmy Kimmel Live, TEENick and "George Lopez Hosts National Kidney Foundation Gala, Show".

The video for the single premiered on Yahoo! Music on May 30, 2007, and was directed by choreographer Fatima Robinson. On May 10, 2007 TMZ.com published a photo from the set of the music video in which Duff was reportedly dressed as a snake charmer. Duff said that she is not dressed up as a snake charmer, but that the video has an Indian style, and she said that it is her best video to date.

The video begins with Duff running out of her home to talk to her romantic partner, unfortunately he drives off before she gets her chance. Afterward the screen shows framed pictures of Duff and her partner before transitioning into a dinner scene in which Duff and her partner are having a large feast with a large amount of friends, her partner is seen flirting and talking to another young woman at the table which Hilary's character finds agrivating. The scene soon transitions into an indian lounge in which belly dancers entertain the men in the room. Her partner is again seen flirting with a young woman and talking to other men in the room, soon Duff comes out in her own Indian style costume and does a belly dancing routine with other dancers, while the screen shows quick shots of Duff alone in a room with a hoodie singing the lyrics of the track. Afterwards the video shows Duff and her partner alone in bed, and yet another scene of her partner flirting with the same young woman at the dinner party. The video transitions again to a modern club filled with laser lights and people and Duff comes intp the club with a very short shiny blue dress, Duff goes over to her partner and teases him before going over to another man and dancing provacatively with him to get her partner angry and jealous. She soon breaks into another dance routine, while slow motion shots of Duff dancing are woven into the scene. Afterwards, Duff is having a very angry argument with her partner in their home, and she is seen later going through her boyfriend's phone looking at his text messages from the other woman. At the end of the video, Duff is seen leaving the couples home with suitcases and the video ends with a final shot of Duff in the hoodie. The video is set to premiere on Friday June 1st, 2007 on MuchOnDemand. While the video will premire on June 4th, 2007 on TRL.

The "Stranger" music video is not the continuation of the "With Love" music video.

Thanks, James! I am very disappointed, though- the Cheetah Girls' new album isn't a new studio album or anything (I guess I was thinking that it was).

I'm excited to hear more songs (or at least clips) from Aly & AJ's new CD!

Hopefully this new single won't be as awful as her first one. "Girlfriend" nearly makes my ears bleed.
