Has anybody remember the old vintage Disneyland LP's? If you are a Disney collector, I want to share with you some of my favorite Disney album covers ever made. Will start off with the Disney Princess:

Here are the original labels.



This is a rare maroon Disneyland label from 1956 taken from the "Bambi" soundtrack from 1957 in the first WDL-4000 series.



This is a purple Disneyland label with just the original printing circa 1956. It was in the ST-3900 series.



This a yellow Disneyland label from the DQ-1200 series with just the original 1956 printing and different text.



This is a rainbow Disneyland label from the late 1970's. That lasted until they stopped producing mass vinyl by the late 80's.

Other Disneyland label uses other text font with similar logos shown in the arc with identical castle design (later used as a logo for Walt Disney Pictures). The identical castle design was shown in both left and right was sorta like a 1960's Columbia, Kapp and other labels compared to these.



This is a late 60's/early 70's label has no "LONG [33 1/3] PLAY" and primeter "Recorded by Walt Disney Music Co." shown.



This label does have a "Long Play" symbol on the bottom, no "Recorded by Walt Disney Music Co." shown on the label. This was an early 70's label.

Here is the logo for the Disneyland label shown in LP covers.



The original 1957 logo used until 1968.



This is second Disneyland LP logo from 1968 with a star symbol shown on the bottom left. Previous LP's also used that one. That lasted until 1976.

Here is a Buena Vista label taken from the "Fantasia" LP from the 1960's. The original LP from 1957 has a gray Disneyland label on it, so they changed and reissued it with a 1960's BV rainbow design. This was later used for the "Mary Poppins" soundtrack and the Annette Funicello LP's.

I miss Disneyland Records.

I missed them too, but it's now Walt Disney Records. I adore the Disneyland LP's since I was a kid, but I still love it today as a big collectable. I have the Disneyland laebl with a 70's rainbow design as well as some color stock labels, similar to local labels that produced pop & R&B artists. It has various colors such as yellow (DQ-1200 series), purple (ST-3900 series) and other label colors such as red, gray, blue (ST-1900 series) and pink. I'll show you some of mine.

During its heyday on the Disneyland label, they put out a single called "Tall Paul" by Annette Funicello. That song was her smash hit of 1959. It peaked at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and sold a million copies. The Disneyland label was shown here in a purple label, the same color was later used for the story LP's in the ST-3900 series.



As for the LP's here are the CD's







This is the CD version with the original score by Oliver Wallace. The LP version featuring Darlene Gillespie and Tutti Camarata's orchestra & chorus.



This is also a CD version with orignial score by Oliver Wallace. The 1962 LP version featuring music by Robie Lester, Teri York and others along with Tutti Camarata's Orchestra.

To get back to the LP's, here is a 1976 album called "The Greatest Hits of Walt Disney". It was not on the Disneyland label, it was on a Ronco label. I have the LP but it was completely scratched.



Here is a Disney LP which was a 2-LP set featuring compilations of Disney music. It was called "50 Happy Years of Disney Favorites". It was from 1973, three years before Ronco put out this one LP with 24 songs instead of 25 on the double album. I might try to find that LP at a flea market when I go.

A lot of nice covers there - I've only got the Fantasia LP, though.

Thanks for posting, musicradio! My favorites are the first Cinderella LP (my cousin had the accompanying book, and I loved looking at the artwork), the Disneyland 50th LP set, and the Pinocchio CD.

I'm surprised by how on-model the characters are on the Disneyland 50th set (well, except for some color choices). I've seen other Disney artwork from the 70s that really takes artistic liberty with the characters and makes them rather psychedelic. The biggest one that comes to mind was a Snow White book from the "Wonderful World of Reading" book series. The artwork there was radically different from the film, yet was still really cool. The characters here on the Disneyland LP could almost pass for modern artwork (well, except Mickey). Cinderella certainly looks more like herself here than in modern clipart, even with that pink gown and lack of gloves.

This is a 5-CD set full of Disney miusic from previous "Classic Disney" CD's. Some of the songs that are also been previously released as part of the Ronco LP from 1976 like "Age of Not Believing" by Angela Landsbury, "Love" by Nancy Adams and a few more. The "Classic Disney" CD's are released in the followig volumes, volumes 1 & 2 from 1995, volume 3 from 1996, volume 4 from 1997 and volume 5 from 1998.

In 1991, they came out with this 3-CD set called "The Music of Disney - A Legacy in Song" featuring songs from the films, parks and TV shows.

Do you own all these?

That's quite a collection.

It's a great way to get some historic older Disney stuff for cheap.

I used to look for these in thrift stores, and ended up with quite a few, but then someone who was really hardcore got into it and started raiding the stores before I got there. But...I at least got to score some Firehouse Five plus Two a couple times.

My favorite Disney album cover is "The Enchanted Tiki Room" as well as "Johnny Appleseed".

Even though I have none of these records, I think they are pretty cool-looking. How long have you had most of these records anyway?

Those last ones with Mickey at the piano are wonderful!

It's been such a long time since I got those at a flea market, thrift store and yard sales. I used to have the Disney LP's since I was a kid, but I lost it. I have about a hundred LP's in my collection so that I need to find some more that I don't have is on one of the posts.
