Pirates Blu Ray delayed in UK?

I'm really annoyed about this. It looks as though the Pirates Blu Ray discs have been delayed until 11th June in the UK!

I was really looking forward to seeing these before the new movie this week, but it would appear that everyone but Play is now listing these for the 11th June.

So much for worldwide release dates and tieing in to the publicity for the new film. As usual we've been right royally stuffed in the UK.

Really mixed feelings about this. I wanted to keep my Blu Ray purchases to my own region, but I could order US discs from someone who has these in stock now.

Another score against the UK!

I'm really sorry darth_detoo.

It is definitly annoying how other countries release dates are pushed farther back..maybe just wait until you get them to see Pirates 3?

Uk dates ALWAYS get pushed back. Why is that ?

And I'm very sorry for you as well darth_deetoo.

Well, there's no chance of waiting to see Pirates 3, I've already booked to see it. Just ordered the US one's from somewhere that has them in stock, and ships out from within the UK, so hopefully they might go out tomorrow and still get here on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Forgive me for being really stupid, but what is so good about Blu Ray ? What is the big difference between that and a DVD ?

Blu Ray discs can hold either 25Gb or 50Gb of data as opposed to a standard DVD which holds either 4.7Gb or 9.5Gb.

So this allows movies to be encoded in high definition. Of course you need to have a hi-definition TV to be able to enjoy it.

After thinking about it, I've decided to cancel the US one's, and I'll just wait it out for the UK releases. There are plenty of standard DVD's coming out in the next week, and I've got plenty of other things to watch. I'm just really annoyed at the way Disney have handled these releases.

Amazon.Co.Uk managed to ship out my Dead Man's Chest Blu, but no the Curse of the Black Pearl. They are actually listing a mid-JULY expected shipping date for the 1st film.

I'm on holiday at the moment, but at least it should be waiting for me when I get back

I have it on good authority that the US releases are regions ABC, so will work in all players, so importing is an option for anyone who doesn't want to wait.

Well it appears the UK release is missing the Audio Commentaries. *sigh*

Another case of us being screwed over.

So when everyone imports the US versions and the UK versions don't sell well, naturally it will the bootlegger's fault or HD-DVD's fault or the devil's fault or the French's fault.

Why are BVHE UK such a complete and utter set of idiots!
