Legally Blonde: The Musical

At the advice of Little Merman, I looked into this rather interesting choice of a broadway musical adapted from a film. And I have become obsessed.
I actually sent you a PM, TLM...did you get it?

The best I could find were full versions of "Omigod You Guys," "So Much Better," and "Take It Like A Man" on the various MySpace pages for the show. I was only able to download "So Much Better".

This show sounds rather amazing. "So Much Better" is an awesome and hilarious song. I cannot stop listening to it.
According to the show's website, it debuted a few weeks ago, so my question is: when can we expect a full CD? I want to hear the rest of the songs (especially the rendition of "Bend and Snap")!!

Anyone know anything?

Being the drama geek that I am, I absolutely love theatre. When I first heard about this, I was annoyed out of my mind. I loved the film, but turning it into a Broadway production seemed like a bad a idea to me. Now I'm just dying to see it! I've only seen a clip of "Omigod You Guys", "Bend and Snap", "Chip on Her Shoulder", and "So Much Better." I really want to see more.

Were the MySpace pages official or just fan-made?

I know that I'd love to see it! (And perhaps play Vivian's role in the near future.)

Seems like a pretty interesting concept. I would be curious to see how it turns out.

They seemed official. I don't use MySpace, so I'm not all that familiar with its layout. I found two: one for the musical and one for the musical on broadway.

...When the hell did this happen? :?

What's next, a Spider-Man Musical? ....oh wait, that's already happening!

The show is cute enough. I really like the movie, it's a fun and fluffy entertaining film, and the musical is essentially that. A lot of the songs are fun and catchy (as I would expect, given they're from the guy who did "Bat Boy: The Musical"), and there's some great comic stuff with the Paulette character. Plus Christian Borle in the Luke Wilson role is so cute and adorable. It may not be deep, but at least it's not pretentious / attempting to give depth to something that isn't there.

The product placements are kinda noticable, though, particularly Jetblue and Olive Garden.

If we're lucky, Spider-Man the Musical will not even open. Given that "It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's Superman!" flopped big time, and "Batman the Musical" never got out of conceptualization, this should indicate superheroes just don't work as musical characters.

The three songs you've heard are the officially released songs from the demo recording. The Original Broadway Cast Redording should be in stores at the end of this month. I, for one, can't wait.
Legally Blonde: the musical sounds like an absurd concept, but the movie really is almost like a musical. A happy happy joy joy musical ^^

That's exciting. I'm rather interested in hearing what this sounds like myself. I somehow expect a Kristin Chenoweth/Wicked/"Popular" vibe.

Who's starring in it on Broadway?
It sure sounds interesting!! I like cuteness and fluff, so I might give the cast Recording a try.

That's interesting that you should say that.

The girl who stars as Elle had a stint as Glinda on Wicked.

Dottie, if you search the show on Wikipedia, you should find the cast list. No one I've heard of is in it, though...

You'd only have known people in the cast if you're a big theatre buff. Christian Borle was in Spamalot and is married to the adorable Sutton Foster of "Thoroughly Modern Millie" and "The Drowsy Chaperone", Laura Bell Bundy was Glinda in "Wicked" and had a brief cameo in the "Dreamgirls" movie, Andy Karl was in "Altar Boyz" and "Saturday Night Fever", along with Orfeh, who is now his wife, Richard Blake was in "Wedding Singer" where he played another jerky boyfriend (poor guy is getting type cast!), etc. etc.

I've heard of Laura Bell Bundy, her Glinda was pretty good. I found a video of her on youtube, but it was taken down again. I liked her interpretation of Glinda.
I haven't heard of any of the others, but it sounds like a great cast. OBCs are always great casts, so I'm really excited to hear the Original Broadway Recording.

I've known about this for a while. I've been following the show's production on Broadway.com since last year. From what I've read on the web, plenty of people LOVE the show. I'm sure it's going to be a success. I've heard it's funny, witty, clever, etc. They've also been playing the movie on tv recently.

BTW, I've been listening to "Omigod You Guys!" nonstop since last weekend. It's a really great song. Catchy and hilarious.

The cast recording, I've heard, comes out around July.

How dare you all start this thread without me!

World Premiere Video ("Omigod You Guys", "Bend and Snap", "Chip On My Shoulder", "So Much Better", "Legally Blonde Remix")
"So Much Better" (Live; Proshot Recording)

I absolutely adore everything about the production that I've seen so far, and cannot wait until I see it this Summer. One of my favorite songs is "Legally Blonde Remix", sung by Vivienne:

You've proved it to me
Now show everyone what you can do
And you look great in dark blue

Get back in the game
Back on the case
Take a good look at my face

I'm not a fool
And as a rule
I do not fault

But I see a star
You're my new muse
You've got the best friggin' shoes

And you've lit a fuse
So go show 'em whose
Legally blonde

Love it! Love it! LOVE IT!

I need to see this asap. I loved the movie, and this actually has a lot of potential. I don't think it'll become a broadway classic, but it definately looks entertaining, and you never know.
