The pitfalls of trying to complete my collection...

...any advice would be most welcome.

For the last two years or so I've been steadily plugging away at trying to complete my collection of animated classics on Region 2. I've done ok but at the moment I don't have big bucks to spend so I've been noseying around on ebay and amazon marketplace for a considerable length of time. I have to say it is a minefield out there!

I am missing the following on DVD:

Snow White
Fantasia
101 Dalmatians
Jungle Book
Beauty and the Beast
Fantasia 2000

Thankfully Jungle Book is coming soon and I can just about hold out for 101 Dalmatians but getting hold of the others is really pre-occupying me at the moment. So much so that I took a bit of a risk with Fantasia 2000 and I think I have been stung. It came up on Amazon marketplace last week for £14.95 and even though I was a little suspicious the sellers high feedback score prompted me to make the purchase. What I received was genuine enough but the disc was actually the bonus disc and not the film. I followed amazon's procedures and returned the item by recorded delivery but as of yet I have had no response from the seller. It would seem my suspicions have been confirmed and trudging back through his feedback I'm not the only one he seems to have ripped off. I guess I should have stuck to the philosophy that anything too good to be true usually is. Obviously I will put a claim in with Amazon but does anyone know what the chances are of recovering my money?

This has really put me off the idea of using ebay. Even though I've been looking very carefully I'm finding it difficult to trust even the most genuine looking sellers. What should I do? Should I give up and wait for the re-releases or persisit down this shady track and dodgy ground?

To be honest I'd be happy with imports as long as they play region 2 and are reasonably priced. Can anybody point me in the right direction of a reputable place to look for imports?

I know I've gotten refunds on half.com, and I'm pretty sure Amazon is good with refunds, too. Definitely go to your user control panel-type thing, and click where it says soomething about a problem with the particular order- give them your side of the story. They'll contact whoever you bought the DVD from, and, more than likely, you should get your money back.

Good luck! I hate bootleggers!

137 reads. 1 reply. Gee thanks for the help and advice guys. Did I upset somebody around here?

I complained to amazon but cannot file a claim until May 3rd, in the meantime the guy's negative feedback has increased by 6% with some serious complaints against his name. How can they let people like this continue to trade on there? It stinks.

On a plus note I received Fantasia today from an e-bayer in South Korea. Needless to say what I recieved was a blatant copy although excellent in quality. Mind you for £3 it's what I expected! I guess it beats paying £65 and it will have to do until the film gets re-released. :headshake:
