Anyone have Cinderella II on DVD for sale on eBay? Maybe with a REASONABLY-priced Buy-Now option? I would really like to buy it from a UD seller because I feel like it would be secured that I am getting an authentic copy. I need this DVD because I am a completist, even though people think it was awful, I didn't think it was THAT bad!

I really want this, too. I know that a UD member has it for sale, but I don't have that kind of $ for 1 DVD right now. He may PM you, DisneyFreak5282, like he did for me. If anyone else has it, though, I want it, too!!!

I share your pain. The first copy of this movie that I purchased was a fake. It was a REALLY GOOD fake mind you, very hard to tell, but a fake none the less. I returend the DVD to the seller and was able to pick one up from the Amazon marketplace that was authentic.
You can always ask the seller if their copy is a real one. If they lie to you and sell you a fake they'll get in tons of trouble, plus you can get your money back from Ebay/Paypal in that case if they refuse to refund you.

The thing is, I see all these copies on eBay that are blatantly fake. But then the ones you know that are real are $70 - $180, but I don't have the kind of money to spend for just one DVD...

Trust me when I say I feel your pain. I've just gotten seriously into collecting the movies in the last year or so, which means I've been playing catch up alot.
It's a matter of deciding what your spending limit is, and then being patient and looking around. If the DVD is something you cannot live without, decide if it's worth the money. Otherwise you might even be able to pick up an authenic used copy for cheap if you wait it out.
For example, this one ends in 30 minutes and is only $25 right now

Goodness, it ended up going for $102.50! I actually thought it was an enjoyable movie, but I wouldn't pay that much for a DTV.
I checked out some of the other auctions afterwards. The amount of bootlegs is sickening and I can't believe eBay allows it. There are even bootlegs of Cinderella III up already!

Wow! That's insane! I have a feeling it's just all the buzz from Cinderella 3 being released recently. Last summer I was able to find lots of new authentic copies for $50 or less..now all the prices are crazy

Insanity. Just plain insanity.
It's not something I
CANT live w/out, I would just like to have in my collection. I am also tryin to find TLM2 and Hunchback 2, but I don't think Hunchback 2 went OOP, because on Best Buy's website, they claim that the store near me has it in stock...

yup. The Hunchback of Notre dame II is still in print, and yes, you can find it at best buy, but you probably just have to wait a while for them to re-stock it

That's good to know. I'm not sure if
Hunchback II is any good, but I want to get it because I think it deserves a chance.
If you'll excuse me, I'm going to take a phrase from
Family Guy, because there is no better time to use the phrase than now:
"You know what REALLY grinds my gears?" The fact that
The Hunchback of Notre Dame II and
Cinderella II were released around the same time, and 5 years later
Cindy II is OOP while
Hunchback II is still in print. Ugh.

I hear you, it's hard to sit around and wait for a re-release when you're not sure if the sequels will ever get one. Especially with the announcement that DTV sequels are canned now. You have to hand it to Disney though, from a sales and marketing point, their whole vault thing was a great idea. Annoying from a consumer point though

The thing about the vault is that they're supposed to rerelease the vaulted movies at some point for "the next generation" (or those who missed buying it the first time). When people buy these second-hand (or bootlegged) movies, Disney isn't getting any money from these sales- that's why they should take the movies out of the vault...
I sold CII when I sold most of my other VHS tapes, since I didn't think it'd be this hard to find a legit copy. TLMII I think will be rereleased in the U.S. when TLMIII comes out, and "Return to Never Land" is supposed to get rereleased sometime...but why wasn't "Cinderella II" rereleased? They could've had a deal- buy both and save $3 or something...

Back when I first started buying DVDs, Bloclbuster had CII to buy for $20-something, but I didn't pick it up then, and I'm kicking myself for it.

My understanding was that Disney will always re-release their classics. I couldn't see them discontinuing something like Pinocchio lets say. However, I dont' know if they'll bother putting their sequels back into print. Maybe we'll see a Blu-Ray release one day. They also might use the Cinderella shorts from the second movie for their new Enchanted Stories line or something. Aren't there even some VHS movies that were never brought to DVD?
I hope you're right because there are still a few movies I would like legit copies of without paying an arm and a leg, but can you really see them bringing back out movies like Bambi II?

I totally agree with what all of you are saying. I was also thinking - and I'm not trying to sound anit-Disney or offend anyone, but - I think Disney is bringing this upon themselves. People are making bootlegs because the movies are going OOP, and they try to pass of their illegal copies as authentic, so people (sometimes) unknowingly buy the bootlegs for what they think is a good deal, because nobody would be willing to pay an arm and a leg for a new, sealed copy of an OOP DVD. I think that Disney should always keep their titles in print, and then once they know that they are re-releasing a movie, with a set date, THEN they should make the previous edition go OOP.
I agree, it is a clever marketing strategy, but I think Disney is going about the whole thing all wrong. It's not like they make the (large amout of) money people charge when selling their copies on eBay, etc...

Well, as I said, "Return to Never Land" is getting a rerelease, and I'm pretty sure that TLMII will be getting a rerelease when TLMIII comes out. And, L&tTII had a rerelease. And, there are some movies that are only available on VHS ("Hercules: Zero to Hero" is one, for example). I think that, eventually, even "Bambi II" will be rereleased. I mean, in a generation or two, I can see these movies being rereleased (on the newest format) for a new generation to enjoy. "Cinderella II", for some odd reason, is one of the hardest Disney DVDs to buy a legit copy of. You'd think that Disney would've known this and that they would've rereleased it when CIII came out. I'm thinking of going to the store I sold my VHS tapes to, seeing if they still have it (doubtful), and re-buying it...if they sold it, I could always buy the VHS online. It's better than not having it at all. I shouldn't have sold my "Pinocchio" or "101 Dalmatians" VHS tapes, either, since I bought them online, but 101D was scratched, and "Pinocchio" was a bootleg...

Does Blockbuster ever "retire" their DVDs in order to re sell them? If so, when? Because everytime I go there, I see Cinderella II just sitting there collecting dust, and it gets me aggrivated because I want to purchase it from them because I know it's a legit copy.

Blockbuster allows you to purchase DVDs from them, even if they're rentals. Ask an employee to tell you how much it'd be to purchase the DVD. You have to pay the rental fee on top of whatever they say it costs. Disney DVDs are more expensive than non-Disney DVDs to buy. I went to Blockbuster a week ago and asked about the prices of various movies. I bought "Get A Clue" for rental price + $9.99. "Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella", though, was rental price + $16.99 (luckily, I skipped on that one and bought it for $10 through the DMC). So, "Cinderella II", since it's in the Vault, may cost you a lot, but you should go for it! My Blockbuster didn't have "Cinderella II", I don't think. If you know it's legit, then I'd say it's worth the extra money.

They charge me $4.99 rental price, so I may go for it. How much do you think it would be exactly? I wouldn't pay over $30 for it, only because there are other DVDs I still need to buy. Also, when I buy this DVD (if it's a reasonable price), will they give me the original case?
