This NEEDS to Be Said!! (Stupid Occupational-Comedies Rant)

EXTREME RANT: Be prepared, the following is going to sound very angry and crazed and scary and not at all controlled.
I saw that Blades of Glory tv spot the other day, and I swear... THIS HAS GOT TO STOP!!!!!!
Does anyone else see what's going on here? They just take a stupid sport / profession and make a trashy, ultra-lame, moronic, half-assed "comedy" out of it...
Race-car drivers, TV news anchors, Dodgeball players, ice-skaters, Museum Nightwatchmen... WHAT'S NEXT?
These goddamn Will Ferrell / Ben Stiller / ex-SNL'ers "Occupational Comedies" must END NOW. I've got an idea - INSECT COLLECTORS!!! Where's my 70, 80, 90, 100 MILLION DOLLARS? These movies aren't worth a minute moist tendril of a wad of Trump-spit! Yet they keep getting greenlit. If they don't stop- all quality CINEMA will be DESTROYED. Forever. Never to be seen or heard from again.
Does anyone else see how this has gotten OUT OF CONTROL? It must end, for the future of the world, it must end now. Or we are doomed. And I mean doomed! We must petition! We must boycott! We must send death threats, bomb threats, and bad chocolate chip cookies filled with rat poison and Ex-Lax to everyone who runs DreamWorks, 20th Century Fox, Sony Pictures - and let them know of our pure wrath and frustration.
And those who don't support me - you may laugh now and may think that this is a great way to lash out at me for not supporting me. But you will SOON SEE that these will just keep going ON AND ON AND ON. Mark my words - if it doesn't end now it will NEVER END.
We now return you back to your regularly scheduled, NON-PSYCHOTIC program.

I totally agree with you. But as long as these types of movies continue to make $$$, they are not going anywhere. Blades of Glory looks like the stupidest movie ever, but I predict it'll make over $30 million opening weekend.

This confused me. Why would we lash out at you for you not supporting yourself...? And laughing is a form of lashing out?
Anyway, you've caught onto something I didn't realize. How smart of you. There should be the "Profession Parodies Collection" boxset.
I don't really think these movies are such crimes. If we stop one "sub-genre" of comedy, what's to stop all the other stupid movies?
And personally, I find stupid humor to be refreshing, and possibly the most original type of humor there is. Far more original than the one-liners and formulaic jokes. I'm tired of seeing the same joke over and over:
Cinderella II:
Boy mouse Jaq: Oh, very boring story, you don't wanna hear that one.
Girl mouse Mary: But Jaq, it's my favorite.
Boy mouse Jaq: Okay. Let's hear it.
Monster House:
Boy: I don't want to go inside a monster!
Girl: I'd say it's worth a shot.
Boy: Yes. I agree. Let's do it.
I'm tired of recycled jokes. Stupid humor and parody has the ability to be easily original with it's randomness and "just funny because it's weird" motives.

Agreed. This is why I hate knock-knock jokes. Wait, who actually likes knock-knock jokes?

Really? If you hadn't told I guess I wouldn't have known - I have only a rather vague idea of what goes on in television and movies nowadays anyway. I prefer to concentrate my attention on good movies older than myself - fortunately there are quite a few.

Yeah I know (now)... I made this post in the wee seconds before I had to run out and catch a Ride. The person was honking and I had to hurry up... I guess that sentence suffered for it.
Disney Duster wrote:There should be the "Profession Parodies Collection" boxset.
Yeah - the person who Edited the Title of this Post should have said Profession Rant, not Sport Rant. Now people are going to accuse me of being a lazy Sport-hater. Which... is not
all that far off from the truth. But still, I think I ought to be the one to say it first.

It's just the fact that they are so never-ending. There is no end in sight. And they just keep coming. And the fact that Will Ferrell is making his whole career off of them, the fact that Bewitched was near-universally panned and yet his movies with him as Writers and Soccer Dads are coming 1 every 2.5 months. Ricky Bobby, Less Than Fiction, and Ice-Skater-Movie have all come out in 7 or 8 months of each other! It is literally beyond insane. It's
Satanic!

Actually Stranger Than Fiction is the rare Will Ferrell movie that attempted him to be a more "serious" actor. It got praised by the critics but, just like an Adam Sandler or Jim Carrey drama, did weak at the box office. Only $40 million gross.

Stupid comedies do well because it doesn't make people actually THINK. They can just sit back and let the movie do all the work and laugh for no good reason.

Dodgeball was funny. The rest were not.

I also liked Dodgeball, and truthfully I am a sports fan and like seeing these dumb sports comedies, and movies like Night atthe Museum, I also plan to see Blades of Glory, probably Easter weekend

True, but how is this funny?
"Knock, knock."
"Who's there?"
"Nobody."
"Nobody who?"
-absolute silence, since it's "nobody."-
A teenager keeps repeating the above joke. As for my favorite kindergartener, his favorite jokes are self-made knock-knocks.
"Knock, knock."
"Who's there?"
"Daddy."
"Daddy who?"
"Daddy, save me from my tonsils!"
"Knock, knock."
"Who's there?"
"Daddy."
"Daddy who?"
"Daddy, Mommy, save me from my eyeballs!"
They're all on the same page. It's predictable and strange, not hilarious! It seems that overused humor is only great to young children.

Happy Gilmore - I love this movie just because I love golf; it's stupid but man it's funny.
That's two thus far Shooter!
Oh you can count; good for you.
And you can count - on me waiting for you in the parking lot.
I disagree that sport comedies are becoming old but I do agree that Will Ferrel movies are becoming old. I haven't seen Blades of Glory yet but I have seen Talladega Knights and it was the stupidest thing I've ever saw. It was unrealistic and just plan annoying. I want a sport movie where it's realistic and the humor is more mature.

Happy Gilmore was one of the better ones.
I'm not tired of them, but I am growing tired of Will Ferrel films. I was very disappointed in Talladega Nights. True there are some good one liners you can quote among friends, but overall the movie wasn't that great.
Blades of Glory looks worse from the previews.

I personally kind of like "stupid" comedies, just as long as there is not much bathroom jokes.
Talladega Nights was not that bad but not that good either.
I plan on renting Blades of Glory.

Instead of beating around the bush, I wish Lazario would tell us how he really feels..................nothing is worse than a post that doesn't show the true emotion of the person who wrote it.......................................LOL!!!!!!!

I've got a free movie ticket to Blades of Glory... So, we'll see...
I personally like some of the stupid comedies:
Baseball movies - Mr. Baseball, Major League
Happy Gilmore
The Waterboy
Dodgeball
Anchorman (not sports, I know)
I also like Will Ferrell things, like Elf.
