What comic strips do you like reading in the paper or online? Mine are:
Calvin and Hobbes
Foxtrot
Garfield
Mutts
Peanuts

"Calvin and Hobbes" and "The Far Side" are easily the two greatest comics in the past twenty or so years.
I often read "Fox Trot", "Non Sequiter", and "Zits", but apart from that, there's really no other comic strip I find to be particularly funny at all.

Garfield and Peanuts are pretty much the only ones I go out of my way to read in the paper.

Calvin and Hobbes, Garfield, and Peanuts are the only comic strips I loved. I prefer Calvin and Hobbes over Garfield and Peanuts because of the twisted humor. Great fun to read, though.

"Calvin and Hobbes" and "The Far Side" are modern classics. The most popular comic strip in my country, and possibly my favourite nowadays, is called "Pondus" - it has gained some fame abroad lately, but not in the US as far as I know.

Garfield, Peanuts, the Far Side, Charles Addams' old stuff, and my own stuff that I haven't tried to get published yet.

Here's the reason why I like the strips I mentioned:
Garfield is pretty funny, but personally, I think Garfield has been going VERY stale over the past years.
I discovered Mutts when my mom got me a book of some of the strips from the book burrow.
Calvin and hobbes is one of the funniest comic strips I have ever read. It's funny how Calvin's imagination always gets him in trouble at home and at school.
Peanuts is pretty fun to read on occasion. I have not read it in a while (I know it's out of print and my paper does not carry it anymore)
Foxtrot was fun to read because of how they tied in to popular movies and fads. It's sad that it's no longer published in my paper (A really lame strip took its place

)

Pixarfan, in your newspaper, what took Foxtrot's place? I'd be angry!

Bill Amend decided to cut back to a Sunday-only format starting in 2007, not sure if you were aware of that. At least the good news is that you're not missing any new Foxtrot strips, unless your paper dropped the Sundays as well.
As for my favorite strips:
Current strips:
Mutts. The best current strip, bar none. McDonnell is pure genius.
For Better and For Worse. Always has been an excellent strip for many years. I've heard that Lynn Johnston is going to start cutting back later this year.
Garfield. I have to agree with PixarFan on this one, Garfield has grown awfully stale over the years. The early years, though, were quite enjoyable.
Classic strips:
Peanuts
Dick Tracy
Terry and the Pirates
Thimble Theatre featuring Popeye
Strips I can't stand:
Dilbert - can be funny, but I just can't get past the bad artwork.
Cathy - I just don't get the appeal.
Prickly City - just plain BAD artwork. (Please, I know its a political comic strip, I'm not commenting on the politics only the artwork)

Doonesbury has been my favorite since the Watergate years. I used to have about 60 Doonesbury books (all the way back to the first one published) but sadly all were washed away in Hurricane Charley.
