(I wasn't sure if something like this has been posted in the past... I wasn't really sure how to go about searching for a topic like this, but if there is somewhere then pm me and i'll delete it)

ANYWAY, like the topic title says... What Disney movie has ever made you crazy and super excited for it's release? It could be memories from when you were little, or it could be recently, OR it could be both (maybe every new release makes you crazy-excited )

For me, it's three of them. The first one I can remember is when Lion King came out in theaters (I was six or seven at the time). I was crazy for this movie when it came out. I remember the morning news had a clip of it (I guess it was for the day it came out; can't remember), and it was the Circle of Life sequence, and I freaked out and got crazy-excited. And I had to have a Lion King-themed birthday party... with plastic figures of Simba and Nala on my cake (that I still have ). And my best friend at the time was crazy about the movie too, so we could obsess about it together. I saw the movie in theaters twice; the first time I brought all my neighborhood friends along

The second one was Dinosaur. There was a site I used to go to way back when called UpcomingMovies (which still exists to this day, but nothing as good as it used to be), and I first heard about it there. I read the trailer would be attached to Toy Story 2, so I went to see that one in theaters JUST to see the Dinosaur trailer... WHICH WASN'T ATTACHED for some reason So then I got ahold of the Tarzan vhs (nope, I didn't have a dvd player yet), and without prior knowledge, I see the trailer! And I'm thinking to myself that is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen and that it's going to be so amazing. I nearly wear the vhs out just from watching the trailer over and over. And then I saw the movie... and I loved it the first time, but the second time, not so much. The first part of the film, to me at least, is the only thing worth seeing.

The third film was Treasure Planet. I loved the teaser for it... loved the movie to death... and I had to go to Wallyworld the morning of its dvd release to get it

I loved as a young girl HOCUS POCUS! I even made my aunt drive me to the Salem cemetery where they shot the cemetery scenes.... (not like it was far from her house....).....

I just recently "upgraded" and bought the DVD (finally)..I've been using the VHS for years, I'm surprised it still works!

now, FROG PRINCESS

I remember have a mild obsession with "The Little Mermaid" and "Aladdin" after their release, but I was a little young to be super keyed up for the release of either.

Like Lil' Pixie, I couldn't wait for "Hocus Pocus." I remember Disney Channel would play little making of clips during commercial breaks. Even before I saw the film, I remember jumping up and down yelling "Amock, amock, amock!" because it was in the commercial. I was so upset whe I saw the film and the part from the commercial where Winnie pushes Sarah and Mary into the swiming pool wasn't in it. But I loved the film. I remember crying when it came to VHS because it was only available to rent. Disney didn't release it to purchase for another 6 months, but I had a pre-viewed copy from Blockbuster before that time came around. I probably rented that movie so many times before owning it. This film needs a better DVD release (WITH the deleted swimming pool scene, theatrical trailor, and at least the featurettes from Disney Channel).

I also remember being psyched for "George of the Jungle." I was never a fan of the cartoon, but I couldn't wait for that and "Inspector Gadget" when they came to theaters.

I've been pretty psyched for every Disney animated release since "Pocahontas." I think that was the age when I realized these were special films and that they were new (I was under the impression that every Disney film was made by Walt long ago). This was the time that I started getting interested in who Walt Disney was and he slowly became my hero. I can't wait for "Meet the Robinsons"! 5 days!

Goofystitch, you just cracked me up with the "Amock Amock Amock"...hahahahahah!!! So cute, I can just picture you jumping up and down on the bed or something!

When I was little I was obsessed with The Little Mermaid, and then Pocahontas. I also liked The Lion King 2 and The Little Mermaid II alot, and now I cannot wait for The Little Mermaid 3, and am excited beyond words for Enchanted, Rapunzel, and Frog Princess. I also have loved Lilo and Stitch since it first came out, and was intrigued by it from the first Stitch-invades-a-Disney-classic trailer I saw (it was the Aladdin one, I believe).

I am really pumped for the next Pirates movie. All the leaked screenshots have gotten me really excited about the film. While watching the Russian trailer I actually yelled "OH HELL YES!" at my computer. Here's hoping it doesn't let me down.

I know I was excited for Finding Nemo. When I was little I used to be so depressed because I was like the only kid in the school who didn't have a VHS of The Lion King as it was my favorite movie back then.

Peter Pan
Mary Poppins
The Rocketeer
Aladdin

Of course, the first two were VHS release, the third was DVD release, and the fourth was a combination of everything: theatrical release, VHS release, and DVD release. There's very little in Disney that gets me super mega excited beyond those four.

I always used to get psyched for Disney films before they were released, especially the animated stuff during the Renaissance (and shortly before).

However, it was only after I saw the films that I'd get totally obsessed, especially on home video, and a few films in particular.

Disney films I nearly wore out on VHS include Hocus Pocus and The Adventures of Huck Finn (Elijah Wood). I was also pretty obsessed with Shaggy Dog, and definitely The Little Mermaid (but I was totally in love with Ariel and still am).

In reverse here, I didn't know what to expect from Lilo and Stitch, and in the end I think it's the best thing Disney has done since BatB. Really, really enjoyed myself watching it... probably because I'm rather like Stitch in real life (if I didn't have to conform!)...

There's a few that I had an obsession about.

The first was Aladdin, which was one of the first disney movies I remember seeing in theatres. I had a lot of merchandise after seeing this movie. I had genie slippers, aladdin bed sheets, aladdin silverware, and of course the VHS.

Another one I was excited for was Toy Story. I was impressed with the animation when I first saw it. That Christmas, I wanted a Buzz Lightyear but ended up getting the metallic version instead.

I've always been excited about all the Disney animated and live-action/animated movies. But, growing up, I had never heard of "The Black Cauldron". I think I discovered it in a book (maybe Leonard Maltin's "The Disney Films"?). I found a link online years ago that had a clip of the movie, which included Gurgi. I was already intrigued with the movie, with the backstory of its production, and then I fell in love with Gurgi. I finally found the movie at a "flea market" in the mall in my hometown. I bought it, brought it home, put it in the VCR, watched it, rewound it, and pressed play again. I was very excited about that movie.

Blackcauldron85 reminded me of a major one I forgot in my post. My grandma made me a scrapbook of what was going on in the world the day I was born. It was mainly a lot of highlights from various newspapers and one of them was posters of movies that were playing. I looked through this when I was probably around 6 or 7 and saw "Walt Disney Pictures The Black Cauldron" and I was a freak about needing to see this movie. I remember having my mom call Disney and ask them how we could see it. I was crushed when they told me that it had not been released to home video and there were no plans to release it. I was pretty bummed and that kind of hung over my head for a while until around 1998 when Disney finally decided to stop sitting on the darn thing and put it on VHS. I had a minor obsession with it leading up to the release. I even remember taping TV shows hoping I would capture a TV add on tape. When I did, I watched it so many times. When it came out, I stared at the unique artwork for at least an hour. And I think I watched the film at least twice that first day of its VHS release. lol.

That's a neat story, Goofystitch! (It is, but the main reason I'm writing is because I got your PM, but I can't PM back- I only bought "The Wild" within the last month and a half, so mine doesn't have a slipcover- sorry!).

All of the Cinderella movies and both of the Mulan movies. When Mulan first came out on video, I watched it every day I could and made people sick of it. =P

pocahontas to fantasia/2000 these movies had me going mad anticipating their releases. especially pocahontas..even now looking at the dvd casing makes me crazy with excitement..what more any merchandise related to it.i still scavenge for second hand books on pocahontas at discount stores.

For me it was Oliver and Company. I wore through a VHS tape when I was little. I know it's not the most popular movie, but I loved it. I even had the soundtrack on casette and probably drove my parents nuts listening to it.

Both Cinderella sequels. Heh. See, when I was eleven, commercials for C II played at the Disney store. I had grown up on the original Cinderella and after seeing the commercials on the "big" screen (which was a lot bigger to me at the time), I simply had to know who the lady dancing with the grand duke was.

I certainly found out. She had a complex personality - and my name! I didn't expect her to be in the third installment, but I was looking forward to it like crazy at any rate. And I was pleasantly surprised.
