I been wondering if Disney still has the rights to The Brave Little Toaster and been thinking if Disney takes out a new 2 Disc set for the movie.
Hopefully The Brave Little Toaster does get re-release on DVD since the first release doesn't really do it justice.

Yes, they still have the rights. But I'd be shocked if the movie was upgraded to a 20th Anniversary Edition. BVHE just hasn't shown a lot of interest in re-releasing anything (that's not a Disney animated classic) on DVD in the past two years. I think we'd be more likely to see a low-priced trilogy set for the three movies (a la <i>The Mighty Ducks</i> box) than a 2-disc re-release of the original. But I doubt we'll see either. Too bad; I enjoy the movie and it deserves a better DVD. A different studio probably would have seen fit to reissue it by now.

I doubt they'll release it anytime soon. I am still mad at Universal for not releasing a 20th anniversary edition of Back to the Future (I do not want to buy the boxed set!)

Why not? It's priced at the cost of an individual movie's special edition anyway. That's $20 I'd spend in a heartbeat if I hadn't gotten the set when it first came out. (And sure, Part III is lame, but Part II rivals the original.)

I love the Brave Little Toaster (as you can see in my avatar ) and I too think it deserves a proper 2-disc release...

im gonna buy the three pack they offer for all of the three blt movies and its cheap through the dmc...its a really good deal...

I've never seen this film, and I've heard it's great. I wish they'd release a better DVD, but I'm not holding my breath and will pick up the existing one after I get the remaining nine animated classics I need to complete my collection.

As for Back to the Future, there was a major framing problem on the second and third movies. They actually matted a pan and scan version of these two films. They were supposed to fix this problem after the initial run and place stickers on the corrected versions, but I never never seen any packages with stickers on them, so I don't know if the problem was ever corrected. That's why I've never bought it. If anyone knows if this was in fact corrected, please let us know.

They did fix it, go to bttf.com. They explain what the fixed version says on the box and everything. We still have the messed up one because I bought it for my boyfriend in like 2002 and we haven't bought the new one yet.

Thanks for passing that along, DisneyFanatic. I never knew that the "Lowest Price Ever" stickers marked the corrected versions. I'm going to pick this up now. Thanks again. You made my day!

Maybe John Lasseter will make it happen since so many Pixar Alumni worked on this and he tried to make the film in CGI at Disney in the early 80's.


According to BTTF.com Universal put the defective discs back on the market so it's impossible to tell which are the correct versions anymore. It makes me frustrated...

So I don't own any of the Brave Little Toaster trilogy (if it is, indeed, able to be called a trilogy - I have only seen the first so I do not knoew).

Would now be as good a time as any to buy? I doubt these would ever make it to Blu-ray, but it has been three years since this topic originated - any word in that time about a new restoration, re-release of any of the three Toaster films?

If not, walmart.com has them for a reasonable price and I may just go ahead and buy them.

It's such a great movie. I'd love to see this happen. But if they didn't give Hunchback a 10th anniversary, I doubt they'll notice this.

Ironically, a lot of the story elements in Toy Story 3 kind of reminded me a bit of Toaster.

Spoilers - Most notably, the owner getting older (college age), as well as the near destruction of the non-human protagonists in a climactic final scene. I have to say Toaster had the more satisfying ending for my tastes, though.
