I agree -- we definitely wouldn't see the full season in the Treasures Tins. We would more likely see a montage in the style of the 1950s Sign of Zorro. I have that on VHS from the early 1990s. Similar to what Disney did with Davy Crockett, they took bits of episodes and forced a 90 minute movie out of it to capitalize on the series' popularity.

Instead of seeing the episodes cut apart, maybe we could see eight of the best episodes in a Treasures set? Here's hoping! I have always been a fan of the zorro legend movies!

I have always enjoyed watching Zorro on the Disney Weekend (the first version of the Disney Channel here in Brazil). I have a lot of the episodes recorded on tape. I would certainly buy a DVD of it!

Here on Disney Channel they made a rerun of the whole complete series, so i have all the episodes on VHS and In Color (Disney colorized them and let me tell you, they are excelently colored).
And now in Latin America (at least some months ago was that way) the FOX KIDS LA network had the series on their grill.
I hope that if they release it on DVD it has at least subtitles in spanish/portuguese, or even better if it has the original dubs, don't you think Joe Carioca?

I remember I used to stay up late to watch re-runs of Davy Crockett and Zorro on Saturday nights. Every time I look at my Crockett DVD, I desperately want Zorro.

Well, there are two seasons, plus I believe four episodes that aired as part of the anthology series. Not out of the question to break it into chunks and release over time as Treasures. God knows I'd love it!

I wouldn't expect a Zorro release in Region 1 in 2004. Why?

Sony is FINALLY getting their long-in-the-planning sequel to The Mask of Zorro going. From what I hear, it's eyeing a start in early 2004 for a summer, 2005 release.

Disney is probably aware of this, or will become aware of it somehow or other. And it only makes sense, from a marketing point of view, to have their Zorro shows make a big splash on DVD to coincide with Sony's sequel, so they can make a quick buck off of the sure-fire popularity of that production without nessesarily having anything to do with that production.

They did the same thing with the theatrical and DVD releases of Sony's Spider-Man, releasing two best-of DVDs of the 1995 animated series, one in late April and one in late October just prior to the movie's launch in theaters and on DVD, respectively. And they pulled out a third Spider-Man story arc, guest-starring Daredevil, to make a buck off of the Daredevil movie release this past February, and with an X-Men animated title they had rights to before X2 hit screens. I'm quite suprised they didn't take advantage of the theatrical or DVD release of their own Freaky Friday remake to bow the original film on DVD, but it's too late for that now.

So obviously the best timing for Disney's Zorro to finally bow on DVD, in order to maxamize profits, is within a two or three month radius of Sony's Mask of Zorro II movie release. See what I mean here?

I sure do!
I would love to have a "Zorro" DVD set. Even though I would preffer watching the original B&W (I think...) I must adimit it was very well colorized.
"Zorro" used to be quite popular here in Brazil.

Well, yes, but you can use the same argument for any Zorro release. And France (at least) and the UK (soon it seems judging by the BBFC) have a Zorro tv series release.

Where is the best place to order this Region 2 release of Zorro?

BTW, somewhat off topic, but perhaps someone here can help answer something for me. I recently bought the first series of the 1955 "The Adventures Of Robin Hood" starring Richard Greene from the Benson's World website (http://www.bensons-world.co.uk/dvd/prod ... 077218.asp). Although the Benson's World description and the UK Amazon description both say that they are Region 2, the DVDs that I received are all Region 0 and are labelled as such on the box and each DVD case. Is it supposed to be Region 2 or are the Region 0 DVDs legit? Is Benson's World a reputable vendor?

How soon for a UK release?

I am very eager to get this series, but if there is going to be a UK release then I might wait for it instead of ordering the French one.
