that seems like a weird place to go putting a Fanfic. maybe you guys should put a Fanart/Fanfic section to this forum.

Not really. Off-Topic is for topics that don't fit anywhere else. Fanfics don't fit anywhere else, hence they go in Off-Topic. There's not an overwhelming amount of them on the forum and I don't feel there's real strong demand for them either.
