Has anyone read this book? Its terrific. Five kids have the ability to turn into holograms and explore Disney World at night. There's much moe to the story, though. It's thrilling, chilling, and well, Disney! It's written by Ridley Pearson (co-author of Peter and the Starcatchers). i have this and read it to , it was so good i think it should become a movie. but because of the ending there will be more books. YAY

I just got this at Target the other day, intending to have a new book to read since I finished Harry Potter. This book was so suspenseful and good that I actually didn't put it down and read it all in one night!

The story setting itself is just truly spectacular since it takes place in the Magic Kingdom. It's so easy to imagine the story happening, especially if you know the park well. The setting is described to the right degree that it doesn't sound too corny nor like a travel guide.

My only complaint I guess is that it's an obvious children's story. It would be cooler if the author wrote some stories that featured adults or teenagers in Disney World. Still, I loved the book all the same.

Disney Theme park fans should definitely pick this up!

I thought the killer dolls in it's a small world were immensely scary. I'll never look at that ride the same again.

It's funny because I had been reading up about Kingdom Keepers today and when I clicked on this thread I was like, "Wow! A thread on The Kingdom Keepers! I wonder who wrote it?", then I click on it and I see that I started the thread.


Okay, back on topic, on Ridley Pearson's blog he stated that there will be a Kingdom Keepers 2, it was going to be subtitled, The Rise of Chernabog, but now will not, and will take place in Animal Kingdom.

It coming out some time in 2008. I think sometime in spring or summer.

I started reading it and loved it.
But i lost it at my school i think.

Just found out about a book called The Kingdom Keepers written by Ridley Pearson.
Using cutting-edge technology, five Florida teens have been transformed into Holographic Hosts at Disney World. Their images appear throughout the Magic Kingdom, giving visitors information about the various attractions. It all seems to be going well, until the participants begin having disturbing dreams that start affecting their everyday lives. They sneak in after the park has closed, and Wayne, a retired Imagineer, directs them in their fight against the Dark Side, embodied by Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty. Audio-animatronic pirates from The Pirates of the Caribbean travel through the Magic Kingdom in the little cars from the Buzz Lightyear ride. The dolls from It's a Small World clamber into the boats and start biting the occupants. Cinderella's Castle is filled with an eye-popping array of staircases, à la Escher. There's a certain coolness factor for the notion that people could be both human and hologram at the same time, and the illicit thrill of seeing all the things you don't normally get to see (both real and imaginary) makes this a must-read for serious Disney fans. However, readers never really get to know any of the characters well, except for Finn, the narrator, and the mystery is so convoluted that it's hard to follow, and even harder to care about.

Anybody read it? Is it any good? It's apparently been submitted to Walt Disney Pictures for a film as well.

I've read the book (and just started on the sequel), and it is verrry good. I love that the author uses DisneyWorld as the location for the characters, and it is an easy read for anyone who loves Disney! I recommend it to all Disney Parks and Disney Fans alike!

Wow, I'm surprised Disney allowed that to be in the book. Then again, they must know that the ride is both loved and hated by park guests so this must be their way of making fun of the ride.

One question: does Kingdom Keepers feature any of the Disney characters?

Ummm...they feature like...characters in the park. Like, they look the way they look in the park.

I love the KK books they are amazing and it would be amazing if they made a movie, it would be great. The second one was really good. I will die if i don't find out what happens next.

Kingdom Keepers IV: Power Play which comes out this April has a villain that surprised me that he was on it. I am still starting on Book 2 Disney At Dawn. I need to get a move on these books...

Piques my interest a little, though I'm still not going to pick this series up until they actually do something park-character wise and bring Figment into the mix. The various inaccuracies and the "teenage adventurers fighting AI versions of characters gone wrong" rather then focusing on classic characters has generally made me stay away from these books.

Charlene Turner has recently been going against the group's rules, striking out on her own. And when this cheerleader & track star is caught using her DHI to sneak into Epcot ... Well, the others now wonder if this is just typical teen rebellion. Or is something more sinister going on?

I'm not so sure I like the sound of that.

But I will be picking up the book nonetheless.

I wasn't sure if I should resurrect the 2011 book series thread... if this better fits there please move it or let be know and I'll erase here/post there.

The author is re-writing the original Kingdom Keepers books to better reflect what attractions currently exist in the Parks:

Kind of sad to me. I’m sure they’ll completely write out VMK since the game has been shut down for 12(!!) years now, but that was the reason I read the books in the first place.

I find the timing of this interesting. I wonder if the plan was to rewrite the books for added corporate synergy with the Disney+ series. Maybe Disney is planning on making the show one day in the future and they want the books to reflect their plans with the current attractions.
