Language tracks for releases

Anyone know where I can find more info on which language tracks are available on which Disney international DVD releases? The "tech specs" at Amazon's foreign websites don't seem to be that helpful. In particular, I would love to find Italian and/or Swedish versions of Disney animated classics, particulary Hercules and The Lion King.

Thanks!

Do you want to buy them or just have the information?
Anyhow I can help you with both if you like.

I've been able to find the Italian version's of Hercules and "Il Re Leone". Hercules has English, Italian, and Hebrew soundtracks; Il Re Leone has English and Italian. Are Hercules and/or The Lion King offered in Sweden in Swedish (I noticed The Lion King is not yet out in Germany for some reason)? And what other language tracks are on the Swedish versions?

Thanks a lot!

The Lion King should be out in Germany. Amazon.de lists it shipping in 24 hours.

The German Lion King disc has only German and English soundtracks, but has various subtitles, including Italian.
Sprachen: Deutsch (German) (Dolby Digital 5.1, DTS 5.1) Englisch (English) (Dolby Digital 5.1)
• Untertitel: Deutsch (Dutch), Englisch (English), Französisch (French), Italienisch (Italian), Spanisch (Spanish), Türkisch (Turkish)

Most of brazilians (and latin countries) dvd has brazilian portuguese, latin spanish and english tracks, and also are encoded for the region 1.
Just some titles, like the lion king, just have the local tongue and the original.

Thanks for the info.

I was looking all over for the Lion King at amazon.de, and all I got was the UK Import version. Of course, stupid me forgot to type in the title in German.

Definitley looking foward to getting copies of The Lion King and Hercules from Germany and Italy. German version of Hercules has German, English, Turkish, and Arabic lanaguage tracks.

Yes they are.

The old (2000) version of Hercules had Danish, English, Finnish, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, and German language tracks.

The new (2003) version has English, Finnish, Icelandic, Russian, and Swedish language tracks.

The Lion King only has English and Swedish language tracks.

Older releases generally had more language tracks (8 is the DVD maximum) but fewer channels on each track (2.0 surround or even mono in some cases).

Modern releases come with fewer languages, usually with the full 5.1 channels.

That's really quite logical. Before DVD sales took off, the sales potential in each country wasn't big enough by itself. So Disney tried to cover as many countries as possible with each edition. Today, it's feasible to have fully localised editions, even for small countries like Sweden.

You already have Fun and Fancy Free? I thought it wasn't due until January 21?

No, sorry for that misinterpretation from me.
That is the only one I don´t have on a Swedish DVD yet from the list I made here.
I took that information from the listings on Internet, since it´s soon out on the market.
