I've lost faith in everything Disney releases nowadays. There are a few gems that shine, but even they are not going to match Disney's last true masterpeice (imo), The Lion King. I would like your opinions on the following recent releases, some of which I've never seen.

The Emperor's New Groove
Atlantis: The Lost Empire
Treasure Planet
Brother Bear
Home on the Range
Chicken Little

Are any of these worth me watching or re-visiting?

Also, sequels? Every Disney sequel apart from The Rescuers Down Under has been horrible (Return of Jaffa, Return to the Sea, The Enchanted Christmas, Simba's Pride, Scamp's Adventure). Are there any sequels that were actually any good?

OMG! The Emperor's New Groove is soooo funny! that IS a disney classic IMO. and Brother Bear is amazing as well I love the music and the animation is really really good! the story is also well done definatly a must see for any disney fan. AND Atlantis is also very good! I love all three of these..not in the same league as the fab 4 but they are still really good. Home on the Range is good for a laugh but nothing more.

Anything Disney is worth at least an initial viewing. All the animated films (save for HotR) are all great and should be watched again and again.

The sequels are a more complicated subject. If you didn't like the one's you listed, then you probably won't like any of the other ones. But, like I said, they're all worth viewing once.

I think a lot of the recent Disney sequels have been huge improvements over the older ones. My favorites are:
Bambi 2
Brother Bear 2 (this one's the closest of any Disney sequel in quality to the original film, but that isn't saying much. I enjoyed it.)
Cinderella III
Mulan 2

As for the classics of the new millennium, I would say that you should watch them all. Home on the Range is a bad, unfunny movie with characters and a story that I disliked and bad songs, but it's still worth watching at least once. It's well-made and everything. Treasure Planet really surprised me the first time I saw it; I really enjoyed it, but not so much the second time. I saw Atlantis: The Lost Empire in theaters and cared little for it, and the second time my opinion didn't change; however, the third time I watched it I really appreciated it for the fun adventure film that it is. Call me crazy. The Emperor's New Groove is probably my favorite out of the ones you listed: it's really funny but it has its serious moments, too. Brother Bear did pass my expectations the first time I saw it, but it's still not one of my favorites. It has a pretty good story. And I won't even comment on Chicken Little.

I won't comment on all the sequels. There's too many and you don't seem interested anyway. I actually saw all the movies you listed recently (I lost touch with my disney roots back in the late 90s).

The Emperor's New Groove - I just saw this one about a week ago and I thought it was pretty good. Too many celeb voices, but it was pretty funny.


Atlantis & Treasure Planet - Both are kinda boring.... I prefered Treasure Planet, but I'd say they're both worth a watch.

Brother Bear & Home on the Range - I thought they were both great films and the best from Disney's recent efforts.... Actually, I enjoyed Brother Beart 2 more than the original.

Chicken Little - GCI.... only so-so... I only bought the DVD since it was on sale for 7.99....

ill be honest and say i dont think i have seen any of disney sequels...but i do know that emporers new groove is one of my favs!!! very funny and entertaining...however i agree that atlantis and treasure planet are kinda boring...but if i had to pick to watch one i would say atlantis cause i have seen it multiple times...its not bad...however i saw treasure planet in the movie theater and remember almost nothing about it...

If you thought everything after The Lion King and before The Emperor's New Groove was either mediocre or very good (but not excellent), then you'll be disappointed in Disney's new millennium films. I personally love The Emperor's New Groove, but that's not a film for everyone. It's more of an acquired taste. Brother Bear and Chicken Little I thought were solid, but not much more than that. Everything else is watchable (and have good qualities about them) but aren't that memorable.

As for sequels, the only ones I really like are Pooh's Grand Adventure: The Search for Christopher Robin, and Cinderella III: A Twist in Time. The Lion King 1 1/2 and Return to Neverland are not bad, either.

I think the last disney's films are really bored (sequels too).
Disney have to made classics films like Peter Pan, LAdy and the tramp, Cinderella...or any greatest book.
Brother bear, in my opinion, is a patetic film, Home on the range, Chicken little....etc... too......

I think all of these films were soo non-Disney like which would explain a lot about why these films failed.

The Emperor's New Groove - I at first HATED this film. I thought it was the biggest joke to come from Disney. After all, it was originally supposed to be this big epic drama film. I wouldve just tossed this out the window all together if it was gonna be such a huge problem to make. After watching it a couple more times, I've become a little bit more tolerable. Didnt despise it as mush as I did when I first watched it.

Atlantis: The Lost Empire - I think one of the things I was thinking was "I dont this is a good idea, Disney". I turned out to be right. Animation was the only thing that separated this film from the entire PG13 rated sci-fi adventure genre. It had nothing new or even Disney-ish to offer. And I have never ever seen a film ripoff so much anime in my life. The settings and stuff just seemed unoriginal to me.

Treasure Planet - Since I am a girl, sci-fi action stuff wouldnt really be my thing. While I can see how this film was doomed from the start, there were parts of the film I really like. I think the best part of the film was the character development and the relationships they formed with each other. It really gets you to relate to them and gets you involved in the story better.

Brother Bear - Probably the best Disney effort and the most Disney like. My only problems with this film was that too many of the characters werent really involved in the actual story and a weak final climax.

Home on the Range - Ugh. Not the best film to go off 2D animation from. Not even the Alan Menken songs made this film look any better.

Chicken Little - Havent seen this yet but can be thrown into the "waay too unDisney pile"

I like Emperor's.....not like Beauty and the beast but I like it...

Altough, I hate Brother Bear, it's soooo booooooooring

The Emperor's New- I love love love this movie! It's hilarious!
Atlantis: The Lost Empire- This is a fantastic movie no matter what people say.
Treasure Planet- I watched the beginning of it on Toon Disney one day, and I enjoyed it. Not the best, but good.
Home on the Range- I don't think I'd return to this home on the range.
Chicken Little- Maybe npot the best, but it's pretty good.

Brother Bear and Home on the Range were both decent. I didn't care for the others very much at all though. I'm hoping "The Frog Princess" will be a new wave in Disney classics.

"The Emperor's New Groove" is a great film. It is quite funny and probably the one where you will get the biggest laugh. I think that if it had a better campaign when it was released it would have had a higher grossing.

"Atlantis: The Lost Empire" is a very decent film. I know that it is very different (non-musical) from the other films the directors have made, but it is decent and very worthy of being watched at least half-a-dozen times.

"Treasure Planet" is quite excellent. In my opinion one of the best. I just don't see why it got such a low gross. I think it is very good. Ranked number 3.

"Brother Bear" is a wonderful film, and perfect for Phil Collins. It is very enjoyable and brung back some music into the Disney features.

"Home on the Range" is.......well, I don't know. I have never seen it, so I can't comment.

"Chicken Little" is okay. I don't think I would have chosen the Barnaked Ladies to sing, but that's just my opinion.

Yeah - They weren't outstanding films - but they were pretty good. I genuinely enjoyed Atlantis, I thought the old woman especially was very funny, I mean, come on, the submarine was under attack and she was chatting on the phone to her friend

I liked emperor's new groove - but it's not a personal favourite

Chicken little and treasure planet: I only saw them each once, in the movie theatre, and remember very little about either of them. I'm not in a rush to buy the dvds, but I'll get them eventually to complete my collection.

Brother Bear and Home on the Range I also saw once each: after renting them for the night. They were good, and I'd watch them again, but they didn't captivate me like other disney's do.

Another addition I think should have been made here: The Wild - I've never seen it, but I'd be interested to hear your opinions.

Agreed. I've seen it three times, and the third was the first time I actually enjoyed it. I really should watch it again, maybe I'll do it this weekend. It's quite different from other Classics, so it takes some getting used to. But once you get past the new look and other oddities, it's really an enjoyable action-movie.

The Emperor's New Groove is great. It's Disney's Shrek, really. Only funnier ^^ I've grown very sick of Shrek, but I still enjoy watching TENG.
Treasure Planet: great movie. I still can't stand B.E.N., but his part isn't big anyway. I LOVE the character designs in this, and who can resist Morphy? Although it's obvious where they used the computer, the 2/3D-hybrid thing was a brave attempt to make.
Brother Bear. I don't see this one as special. The story is too cliché, I think. But I've only seen it in it's correct aspect ratio once (the DVD here is 1.66:1 P&S<_<), so I'll have to watch it again. Still, as far as the story goes, I can't find this one too exciting.
Home on the Range. I don't see what everyone has against this film. Sure, it's not the right movie to stop the Classics line with. Sure, it's got wáy too much slapstick. Sure, it's got wáháháy too much Roseanne one-liners. Sure, the animation is very flat. Sure, there's nothing scary about a yodeling villain. Sure, the movie doesn't bring us anything new. I stíll enjoy watching the movie (which, seeing the list provided, is quite odd). It's just a movie I watch when I have some time to kill. No emotional bonds to make, no feeling for the characters, just sitting back and watching a movie. It may not be what they wanted this film to be, but that's what it is to me.
Chicken Little. I'm not even going to comment on it, that would get in the way of pretending this thing doesn't exist.

As for the films that came after Lion King and before Emperors, I thought Pocahontas, Hercules and Tarzan were okay, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Mulan were great.

Chicken Little is the worst disney film with sequels

To be honest, I haven't seen most of the films on your list either. I have seen The Emperor's New Groove, and while it wasn't one of the best animated classics it was still a good movie, and definately worth seeing. As for sequels definately check out the Lion King 1 1/2, and Cinderella III. They aren't as good of quality as the animated classics, but are entertaining in their own right. I hope over the next few years your faith in Disney will return as there are some promising projects on the horizon.
