Well I guess I didn't have to start a whole new thread about this, but oh well, I haven't been posting all that much so...

Brother Bear - Well I have to admit, when I first started seeing previews for this, I was not thrilled, at all. I thought God this is going to be some sappy the grouchy guy comes around, blah blah story, that had already been done a million times before and I did not wan to see it.

Well then there was the whole, support 2-D animation thing so I decided I would give it a try, and even started to anticipate it's release, the only problem was, everytime I saw a preview I would become doubtful again... Well I wound up seeing it opening day and loving it!!! I loved the Great Spirits song! To be truthful I didn't really care for the other songs. Tarzan definately had a better soundtrack in my opinion, but oh well. Anyway I really loved this movie, and even if it wound up being the way I thought it would be it was still enjoyable none the less. I even started to type up a review for it when I got home, but my computer froze, losing all I had written so I just said screw it! Any way, I liked this better than the Lion King, and I'm really tired of the reviewers conparing it to TLK because I think it's an insult to BB, not that TLK is bad, cause it's not, but it is just completely diffewrent and special in it's own way...

Oh and by the way, none of the previews except for the disney ones, got any kind of response from the audience! Although to be fair, many of the people in the audience were adults/adult couples, there were very few kids...

Any way that brings mw to the next topic...

Home on the Range - I really despised this film, from reading the synopsis a few months ago on the now extint site, animated-movies.com, to seeing the stupid picture posted on the forum here! But when I saw that preview, my whole atitude changed, now I can't wait for it to come out! As you can see I'm counting the days! vvvvvvv My mom was not all that interested when she saw the theatrical preview, she thought it looked stupid, but after seeing the preview on the Finding Nemo DVD she's ready to see it, she just thought the preview before BB, like all the other previews was just too outrageous, and stupid looking, but she thought the one on Finding Nemo was more classy or something, just goes to show you what a difference promotion strategies can make!

Any way, I definately think Disney is ending the chapter of animation on a high note...

...all good though to be honest I expect HOTR is not the last hand drwan film we will be seeing from disney... more are sure to come in the future if we are patiant

Okay, okay.

I loved BB and HOTR looks promising, although Roseanne Barr annoys the hell out of me. I DO think the homestretch has been quite enjoyable (producing three of my Top 20 Disney Animated Classics) and fully expect 2D to be the "in" thing again in no less than 5 years.

As for the BB soundtrack, it's a teeny tiny notch below Tarzan, IMO.

The only recent (read: five years) Disney movie I've seen is Treasure Planet. It's such a good film...hard to believe that despite the good reviews it bombed in the box office.

Yeah, I actually (though I did love the theatrical trailer), liked the trailer on the DVD...even more. Maybe it was the narration, or the fact that the other two cows got to speak...

It'll be a fun film, I'm sure.

I think Disney has ended this stretch, or has filled this stretch, rather well. Looking at the new decade: Fantasia 2000, The Emperor's New Groove, Lilo & Stitch, and Brother Bear are all great, I think. They're among my very favorites. Atlantis and Treasure Planet: Hmm. Not so much, but...

And I think 2D will be back in five or six years, also.

As for the Brother Bear soundtrack, I liked it better than Tarzan.

i'm still waiting for the trailer to appear on this show called Coming Attractions on E! channel. for all i know, i heard that this movie is going to be funny like the Emperor's New Groove.

As someone said out there, since Goofy runs Disney, it's no surprise that they are trying to kill theire own legacy. Still, I also have hopes that 2D will come back. Someday...

At least, if we look at the last features, we should be amazed that Disney took courage to do things that we would never imagine them to do. For example, at the time of "Rescuers Down Under", "Beauty and the Beast" and on, who would imagine Disney would produce and action-adventure movie like "Atlantis"?

Treasure Planet bombed because of its marketing campaign.

It made the movie look juvenile when in fact it had quite a bit of depth.

Because of that I went in with low expectations. The movie wasnt great but it wasnt terrible either. Should have done much better and would of have the promos been better.

In time L&S, TP, BB and HOTR will get the respect they deserve. disney never stopped making great films imo. It were the cheapquels that damaged 2d's look, appeal and image... People couldn't tell the difference from crap like Piglet's Big Movie and their REAL animated features.. but that's just my theory...

It's my theory too... Disney killed their own feature animation division. Thank you, Mr. Eisner!

it's strange that you say that because i was watching mermaid 2 and i didn't like the cheapness. there was something about the animation that looked like a half hour tv cartoon. but i am proof of giving late respect because i always knew disney movies were there but something happened to me and now i love them and i want more. i want another big 2d production in the aspect ratio of sleeping beauty on the big screen
