Does anyone NOT care about the Super Bowl??

I've never been a sports guy... About the only thing I would watch is Sumo, or Competitive Shooting (occasionally some motorsports.) I must admit, some of the Super Bowl commercials have been entertaining, but I download those after the fact...
I can enjoy a game of Baseball, especially if I am in the stands... It has fairly easy to follow rules, and it is obvious when it is time to switch positions with the other team. Everyone has a chance to score, or to make an out.
I don't watch them, but basketball, soccer, hockey, and I presume lacrosse or similar games are also easy to follow: You try to get possession of the ball (or puck) from the other team, and most people on the team can score if they are in position.
Football just leaves me cold, however... All the stuff with the downs, fumbles and so on, or the various positions (can anyone score a touchdown, or only a back - is it allowed but never happens?) Another thing that bugs me is that they have massive time-outs, or they are allowed to run the clock down if they are ahead, etc.
Of course, I am also perturbed by a 2-3 hour football game that is supposed to end at a certain time, but runs an hour or more over schedule, causing me to miss other programming...

For that matter, I get sick of seeing nothing but football around the Bowl times... Does EVERY SINGLE CHANNEL have to have 3-4 different games on instead of the regular programming?

I've never cared for sports at all, and find the rabid fanaticism behind them to be rather disturbing and amusing.

I don't get sports. At all. I watched a bit of the Super Bowl when the Steelers played last year, being from Pittsburgh, but I couldn't even get through the whole thing. My friends and I usually have a movie festival instead.

I never follow sports, but this year I have to care about the Super Bowl...I'm from Chicago. The last time the Bears were in the Super Bowl I was gestating inside my mother's body. It'll be nice to be able to see the TV this time.

ME TOO.
I don't see why they're so great. Why would you watch that when you could be watching something far more interesting?
But I do enjoy the Super Bowl commercials.

I watch the Super Bowl and do enjoy watching football on occasion, but I'm not obsessive about it like some people are. I, personally, am more of a water sport kind of guy. I also enjoy baseball, though I don't understand why everyone says baseball is America's past-time, yet everyone freaks over football.

I've never liked sports, not in watching them and not in playing them. For the latter, I absolutely suck because my hand/eye coordination is in the negative range, and I just don't have fun at all. For the former, I simply find it dull and tedious. Watching a bunch of guys stand around, run for about 8 seconds, then stand around some more on and off and on again for two hours is not entertaining to me at all. If I wanted to see something like that, I'd watch a sports film instead. At least those offer more consistent action as well as the benefit of interesting camera angles and inspiring musical score.

I rarely watch sporting events... especially not on television. I enjoy the occassional Hockey or Basketball game in person, but the tickets are far too expensive to allow for that very often. Football's never done it for me, though; whether live or not. Team sports in general don't generally appeal to me, as I've always disliked playing them myself. I do enjoy playing games like Badminton, Squash, Golf, etc.
That said, I love the Superbowl commercials... and am really annoyed that Canada doesn't seem to get all the same ones (stupid Global). I wish someone would release a DVD collection of all the Superbowl ads... I remeber watching a special last year where they counted down the top-whatever Superbowl ads; and I really enjoyed that.

The Super Bowl only interests me if the Cowboys or Patriots are playing and/or the film commercials are going to be kickass. None of that is happening this year.
Sorry. I'm a college football guys.
'Your 2006 BCS champions are.... Pretty much the greatest college team EVER.'
Cheers,
JM

I only care for big, HUGE international sport events. Not Super Bowl, that's for sure. By the way, wasn't it in Super Bowl when Janett Jackson's breast- with a little star on it- was revealed by Justin Timberlake? And then she pretended to be shocked or sthing?

I'm not really interested in watching sports on the whole, and as American football is something that I have hardly any interest in (mind you, it's not really covered over here...), I'm also apathetic towards the Super Bowl.

Never watched the superbowl before, probably because it's never aired in New Zealand. But I'm not much of a sports person anyway. I'll only watch Rugby or Netball if someone else is watching it. But Rugby is a brutal game anyway. Netball is okay, even better when the silver ferns (NZ) come off on top, which admittedly has only happed this decade, in the 90s Ausie ruled. But it's just fun between the two nations.

Ugh! I HATE football! Which is like sacrilege because I live in Texas! It is just soooooo boring to me though! It's torture for me to watch a game, especially live if I don't have a good view of the cheerleaders. I do love cheerleaders. But, gawd, why should I care who wins, and I never could even figure out the freakin' rules, though I'm generally a pretty smart guy that did well in school, ha. I really don't care for most sports in general. Not sure why I should. And with the pros, there are no losers because they all make so much money.
Maybe it all stems from not being able to play sports, I don't know. Myself, I just always sucked at sports, and that just plain makes them torture to take part in. I never could catch or throw. I used to get asked by coaches to try out, coaches that didn't know me and how bad I was with that stuff, and I'd have to just laugh it off with a, "no thanks." I just never had any interest in that stuff.
Anyway, I will watch some sports movies, though maybe only comedies or Disney ones. As for watching actual sports, I usually only do that if there are some cute girls involved, which you sometimes find in tennis, ice skating, gymnastics, and a few other things. I had a big crush on a gymnast for a while, back in college. I sometimes can take interest in the Olympics because of the whole country vs. country thing. Mainly just hockey though. I have to admit that hockey is the one sport I can watch and get some enjoyment out of, probably because of the fast pace and all, but I still really only like it when it's the World Cup or Olympics and the U.S. is playing somebody, and I still don't watch it religiously. I suppose I can watch ice skating more easily than any other sports too, since it is practically dance (and they have the most attractive girls of all sports besides cheerleading; yeah, I do like the cheerleading competitions). Anyway, Super Bowl Sunday means very little to me, except the traffic in the grocery store and pizza places being overly busy. I have some interest in seeing the commercials, but I don't find them worth watching the game for.

Sports are more fun to play than watch. And that goes for every sport (Golf is fun to play for me, but to watch it is torture).
I agree with TM2-Megatron GLOBAL SUCKS! (especially when they air an Apprentice episode over a new Family Guy or American Dad)

It
is disturbing and the only way I would find it amusing is if all those dumb sports players would play on
half the money they were getting paid. Seriously, sports superstars are the most useless celebrities around! They get paid more than all the music stars and movie stars, contribute almost nothing to society (they were useful back when Magic Johnson was doing ad warnings / Home Video announcements on AIDS, but who was standing next to him? Arsenio Hall - not an athlete), and all the time are spreading negative messages about body image, self worth, and life. They flaunt their lifestyles for no reason other to brag, sleep with every person they can, and only encourage other people to... Play ball. What the f*** are they worth? What do they do for anyone? Why is their excess celebrated while celebrities are treated to public beheadings whenever they express an opinion?
And by the way, I am interested in sports. Just not for pay competition and as a national profession. I enjoy playing several sports with friends, but I always refused to ever play on regular teams. The team dynamic always becomes ugly if it's left established long enough. Participation in sports purely for fun is healthy and for me, a necessary to stay fit. But the interest in it, while harmless for many people, is way overrated and psychotically over-invested into by most people who frequent it as entertainment. I only
watch sports for one form of entertainment... And
that brand of entertainment is inappropriate for children. Need I say..? On that note, actually, look at the way people play sports anyway? It's incredibly presentational. The players are presented in a way that kind of makes it
kinky. I mean, they wear glorified costumes and a lot of gear they don't normally wear. Depending on which sport gets you the most interested and what costumes are the most out of your ordinary day, the whole thing is a real
turn-on.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the number One reason I hate Sports-Watching Obsessions. It's a strain on the brain. So if you are entertained by it in the way I haven't indicated, it's like you aren't entertained by a lot. Which is totally okay, but why do we allow Those People to turn it into something sacred? Like, nobody else can say it sucks.

The super bowl is an overblown ,overhyped ,out of control media event. we usually watch it for the commericals since the game is usually a blowout.
Not one whit.

If it were possible, i wouldn't even know who was competing in the Super-Bowl, but this culture just erams it down our throats.
As far as I am concerned, the football season ended on New Year's Day.
Since everything on TV will be a repeat that night, except Rome and Extras, I intend to use the time to catch up on the "Sleeper Cell" epsiodes on my DVR.

Yeah, ditto. Gotta love how Laz takes two words of my post (rabid fanaticism) and expands it to what I really mean!

Yeah, I think I remember you were discussing that in a much earlier thread. I remember thinking back then, "Wow...I didn't think Laz was an athletic person". Don't know why, I think it was the whole horror movie thing at the time. But it's great that you stay fit, much more than I can say for myself. I used to do soccer back in like...elementary/middle school, but I stopped (mainly out of laziness), though looking back, I wish I continued with it at least through high school.
