Can you still use camcorders?

I did a search for this topic, and saw in 2005 that you could still tape most stuff in Disney World.

As long as I don't have a light on my camcorder, is there anything specifically that I can't tape?

I'm going to try and tape as much as I can, so any advice on this I would appreciate. What about the Hoop Dee Doo Revue? Any and all rides? Fantasia? The shows at MGM - like Indiana Jones?

What about Universal Studios (OT I know)....?

Thanks so much to those of you who've had experience with this - especially those of you who know specifically what you can't tape.

There are a few things that you are not allowed to record (the only thing that immediately comes to mind is Who Wants To Be A Millionaire - Play It) but for the most part, you can record anything so long as you don't have a light on.

1. Outdoor areas Backstage
2. Characters dry humping backstage
3. Castmember locker rooms backstage in the tunnels

;)

While I'm sure you'll enjoy rewatching the attractions/show tapes later on, it kind of takes away from the *actual* experience. I mean, it's hard to look and enjoy a ride like Peter Pan's Flight if you're spending half the time zooming in and out with the camcorder and complaining that the ride is moving by too fast, or that you didn't get certain details.

Some rides I'd videotape because they're slow-moving enough that you can enjoy it while videotapying. Stuff like Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise, etc. But others I'd just sit and watch, camcorder-free. Don't try videotaping stuff like Soarin', Star Tours, or Philharmagic. It doesn't look too good when you watch it later.

And if Carousel of Progress is still open when you're there, the castmember says that videotaping is not allowed, but a lot of people do it anyway. If you can, videotape it as it'll soon become part of the extinct attractions club.

Several dark rides look horrible when videotaped, so don't bother with stuff like Peter Pan's Flight, Spaceship Earth, or Snow White's Scary Adventures.

For shows, it's easy to watch Beauty and the Beast and tape it as well, but nearly every home movie I've seen for Fantasmic turns out only so-so because of the lights, the water, the fireworks, and the scope of the entire stage. Also, never ever tape a rollercoaster. You're liable to accidentally drop or throw the camcorder.

Considering the fact that Play It is no longer around, there's really nothing to record there anyway! :P

Thanks for the input and ideas. :)

I guess I'll come up with a list of feasible things to tape, and limit my taping to those selected. I'm lucky my camera is really small so it won't be a huge pain to have around. I just get to DW so infrequently that I want to remember the whole experience because I'm sure it will go by in a flash.

Who wants to be a millionaire is no longer there.... so you don't have to worry about not being able to tape it, they are putting the new toy story ride in there.
