Neither. Both are equally pathetic.

I'd agree. I used to dig American Idol, but now it's just lost anything that might have interested me, mostly because I always dislike the winners. And the "Grease" show...don't get me started on that. Were it any musical apart from "Grease", I'd watch it as I love musical theater, but 1) "Grease" was on Broadway only a few years ago 2) the score and plot will likely be chopped up to be more like the god-awful movie adaptation which has little in common with the stage show becuase otherwise 3) there will be groups of angry people shouting about how it wasn't like the movie (Which happens EVERY SINGLE TIME the stage show is performed).

I'll watch American Idol but just for the beginning auditions. I dont really watch the elminiation process, unless there nothing better on tv that night. Then I tune in just to see the end.

American Idol, although I haven't really got into Season 6 much. Then again its just the first week of auditions. I hope it picks up. I really enjoyed Season 4 and 5. I started watching in Season 2, and out of the ones I have watched I would have to say Season 3 was my least favorite.

I find the mere idea of either detestable. Things like this made me wish I had a time machine so I could scrub the timeline clean of their polluting presence.

I am an American Idol fanatic. I think it's one of the best reality shows to ever come to television.
I wish they would go through some process improvements, though. I disagree with the way they structure their audition shows and the whole voting structure. I don't have time to keep up with the other voters who vote the entire night. LOL - last year I made my kids do it for me, one on my cell phone and one on the home phone. I think it should be one vote per phoneline that counts. The bad auditions are funny, but I wish they would do a recap of the good auditions at the end (sort of like how they recap the finalists at the end of the finalist shows).
I started watching in season three, and have enjoyed it more every year.

I don't care for either that much, but American Idol is a little better than Grease.

Is the
Grease thing where generally third-rate singers and celebrities talk about
Grease and then sing songs from it? If so, we had one of them in the UK (called
Grease Mania, which was part of a series on ITV of specials including episodes such as
Christmas Mania, Movie Music Mania, Abba Mania and
80s Mania), and it was crap. So, that really just leaves
American Idol for me...
...but wait. I forgot about where I am living. The sheer fact that these will not be widely seen, let alone competing together on UK TV makes me really proud to British!

No, the Grease thing is like our "How do you solve a problem like Maria?" where the public who want to be stage performers are auditioned on stage. One for the male lead and one for the female lead. And... ITV1 are making their version over here, for the West End version of Grease.
So yah-boo. Proud to be British my ass. We're just as bad.
* sigh * Simon Bloody Cowell again.

I chose American Idol S6, but I haven't seen the Grease show yet. I just know that American Idol will be a good season and the Grease show could either be awful, or wonderful.

I would pick American Idol out of those two. I just love watching the auditions and see how bad some people can really sing. Though the judges can be a bit harsh.

HEROES
Can't stand A-Idol at all. And the Grease one is just another attempt at the current "hot" thing.
Watch Dirty Jobs and Mythbusters - More entertaining
