This was a show in the Land pavillion at Epcot that started in 1982 (it was one of Epcot's opening day attractions), and ended in 1994, to make way for a similar show called Food Rocks (which in turn was shut down to makeway for Soarin').

This show was fantastic! They say it was shut down and replaced with Food Rocks because Kitchen Cabaret's four food groups focus was outdated. What a shame that they didn't just update the Cabaret show! It was simply wonderful! Food Rocks was entertaining, but far inferior. Less style and the animatronics were far simpler/more 2D looking. Very weak in comparison. Then, last time I was there (perhaps the last couple of times), they had nothing in that area, which just added to the weakening state of "FutureWorld," which was once soooo amazing! I'm glad that Soarin' is there now. I'm dying to experience it, but they should bring back Kitchen Cabaret with only subtle changes. Yeah, I know they won't, but they should.

After watching videos of both attractions, I can honestly say that Kitchen Kaberet was far superior. The animatronics were much more complex and expressive (just look at Mr. Eggs or Mr. Dairy goods) there eyes alone have the capability of such a wide range of emotions. And of course the music was fun especially Veggie Veggie Fruit Fruit.

Food Rocks was a necessary change because it was outdated. The show was good on paper using the same parodying old songs format that Kitchen Kaberet, but the robots were simply 2-d cutouts (except for Mr. Dairy Goods but they covered his great eyes with sunglasses) and the show just looked cheap by comparison.

I was there the day that Food Rocks had its final performances in January of 2004, but had no idea that it was going to close :( . and now Epcot will no longer have a singing food show like it did for its first 22 years of operation.

Oh bummer! Kitchen Kabaret isn't there anymore? I loved that show. In fact, I remember being so impressed with the whole Land pavilion the first time I went to EPCOT at age 11. The boat ride through the horticulture area was great as well.

I've never been on the attraction, but I've seen a video of it...once in a while, my husband will just start singing the "Veggie, Veggie, Fruit, Fruit" song...now it's in my head, and that's the only part I know. Thanks, QueenRahel :)
