So Phil Collins did several Disney movies for a while and pumped out some good soundtracks. Elton John also comes to mind.

So if you got to choose one established musical artist who write and/or sing the music of a Disney movie (no particular one), who would you choose?

Due to his dramatics and fantastic ballard writing, I think Meatloaf would be awesome for a Disney movie soundtrack.

Do I even need to answer?

.....She would've been great for Home On The Range. I think that my personal favourite (cough Britney cough) would be good for a Touchstone or Miramax film, but for a Disney film, the newest star in Hollywood, Jennifer Hudson, would be good. I mean she's likeable, has good voice, has a wholesome image, isn't of a typical Hollywood body size, and has already sung a Disney song on American Idol- "Circle Of Life". She does seem a bit similiar to Raven though, but Disney will probably drop Raven post-TSR. Jennifer could become the new Raven, so watch out Ashley Tisdale!

If Disney truely wanted a "comeback for Disney animation", they'd get the most unique and most talented musical artist living today.

Amy Grant did that beautiful lullaby on Prince of Egypt. I agree, she'd make a good choice.

David Bowie, in my opinion, has some of the most interesting music out there. I don't much care for his newer stuff, buthe has so many hits and I love every song he wrote for "Labyrinth," so if he is able to regain that awesome writing power, I think David Bowie could write an awesome soundtrack for some of Disney's more quirkyer projects, such as the possibly-shelved "American Dog."

William Hung should sing in a Disney Animated Film... I can see him now singing Can You Feel the Love Tonight....

He's amazing... Anyway, I totally think he would be able to carry an entire animated feature!

He ranges in everything from 20's pop (big horn orchestras) to simple guitar and/or piano songs to elaborately orchestrated compositions. You should check out some of his stuff!!

Gotta go with Mariah Carey. She did a great job with "Where Are You Christmas" for 2000's "Grinch."

Also, I wouldn't mind more Disney movies with Phil Collins' songs. I think his Tarzan soundtrack is one of Disney's best.
I have many favorite artists, but I don't know how they would treat a Disney film.
Maybe Disney could strike a deal with Andrew Loyd Weber. He's still alive, right?

I would looooove to see Disney music done by Panic! At The Disco, Hawk Nelson, Kelly Clarkson, or BarlowGirl. Those are my most favorites.

Yeah, Mariah wrote the song. She recorded the song as well, but there were problems with her changing record companies at the time, so it got handed down to Faith Hill.

The problem with Meatloaf is that Jim Steinham(sp) wrote most of the good songs.

Bob Seger and Eric Clapton come to mind.

I think David Byrne (from Talking Heads) would be ideal. He constantly writes witty lyrics, and can turn his hand to all sorts of music. Plus, he already has film soundtracks under his belt, such as the highly acclaimed The Last Emperor.

If you see True Stories, you'll see he can write music for other people to sing.

Talking heads: 77. One of my favorite albums ever. So I agree with the guy above, but actually I don't care about what Disney does in this moment of time.

Netty - while I heartedly cocnur with David Byrne his lyrics may be a little too witty and subversive for Disney. Little Creatures is one of my favorites.

mariah carey for songs and john williams for score. williams have never done a disney score yet.

Wow, that's some good information there. I never knew that Mariah recorded it, but now that I think about it, it really would've sounded good if she'd have done it.

This is unrelated, but have you ever heard of Homestar Runner? One of the characters on that site, Strong Sad, the youngest of the three Brothers Strong, dressed up both Davids for Halloween a few times. He dressed up as Byrne in 2003 and Bowie in '04.
