Does anyone know what aspect Ratio the UK Version of HSM will have? It's coming out soon and play lists it as "Widescreeen 1:1.33" - there's at least something wrong....

Since the german version like the australian or spanish one is Pan&Scan (i'm wondering 'bout that, since Cadet Kelly and Get a Clue are Widescreen here), i doubt that the UK releases in 16:9.....
But why is that so? The music Videos they air in TV are clearly Widescreen (letterbox), and they come from the movie....

I remember one german FTA channel airing DCOMs from time-to time, i.e. Zenon 2 and Stepsister from planet weird were aired in LB....
Just Disney can't do this...

Well, 1:1.33 wouldn't make any sense, since this is fullscreen, so I guess it'll be fullscreen in the UK as well. The best you can hope for is letterbox, as shown in the videos.

I know that that isn't possible, 1:1.33 is not widescreen

But why is letterbox the best we can hope? The videos are shown in LB cause that's how disney airs 16:9 material if not with pan&scan. I have never seen a thing on disney shown in anamorph.

But I guess it will be released as P&S, too

According to the back of the box, the DVD is full frame.

It has been widely reported that the BBC One is airing the show at some point over Christmas (it hasn't turned up yet on Digiguide, many many slots are labelled "to be announced"), but I would expect them to air the wide edition.

I tell a lie, digiguide must have updated today! HSM will be airing in two parts, at 17:55 and 19:00 on the 29th, and listed as being widescreen! In the middle is Look East for mine, so I guess there may be variations between regions.

EDIT: Checking the main BBC One listings shows an unbroken slot from 17:55 to 19:30. I hope they're not going to chop a lump out of the middle for certain regions!

Sorry for the triple post, but it gets better! The BBC have announced that it will air in HD! I believe there will be a logo over it, but at least it's one less intrusive than the DC logo.

if it gets aired really in 16*9 you could make someone very happy if you would record it in MPEG2 and put it for download

It has been aired here on FreeTV already (twice, the first time only about 2wks after the DC airing...). But it was the version DC aired - P&S and forced subtitles. Awful. There's another channel that sometimes airs DCOMS - in it's original aspect. Grmpf.
