I couldn't seem to find any topics on the Monster House dvd? I saw this dvd at target for $14.99 and decided to buy it for my son. I saw the preveiws for it a few months ago and thought it looked pretty good but never went to the theather to see it.... Well anyway, I was just wondering what everyone on this board thought of it? Personally, I thought it was kind of scary for my 4 year old son! Overall I liked it though! It was really different from anything else I've seen. Kind of weird?

I just thought I'd see whatca ya all think of it?

I think under the what movie did you watch thread earlier this year we all discussed that this movie was NOT for young kids. Maybe 11 and older okay, but with parental guidance.

As far as the movie, I loved it. The motion capture animation was far superior to most of the CGI that have been released this year. "The Polar Express" was really great with that type of animation.

I thought all the extras were really cool, showing you how they did the motion capture stuff.

Over all I would give this DVD release a pretty decent rating, and am glad that they put it out in time for Halloween. It was the perfect Halloween movie to watch.

I watched it with my three year old daughter, seven year old nephew, 4 year old neice, five year old neice, three year old nephew.

None of them had any problem with it or found it scary.

I like it although not as much as Polar Express. Second best animated movie I have seen this year next to Cars.

Of this past year's CGI flicks that I have seen, this one was my favorite. I mean, I just found it the most entertaining. Second would be Over the Hedge, and, sadly, Cars comes in 3rd. Now, in the past, I have been a PIXAR fanatic that believed they could do no wrong, and I still think Cars is a wonderful and amazing flick, it just didn't seem as great as past PIXAR films. It is definitely the most visually impressive of the three films I have mentioned here, but for pure enjoyment, it comes in third. However, the sound system in the theater seemed muffled when we saw it, and I haven't seen it since. I WILL be buying all three on DVD eventually, but don't have any now. I probably would buy Cars first, if only because I'm such a loyalist, but I'm holding out for a 2-disc edition. If it seems to take too long, I will buy the single discer. Of course, I'm sure that as soon as I do, a 2-discer will be announced. Off the top of my head, I can't remember seeing any other 2006 computer animated films. Unless Hoodwinked was from this year. I enjoyed that, but only after it got going, and the visuals looked like a video game.
