Villian Sidekick Info

Basically, my first question is about Si and Am. Are they boys, or are they girls? It was never offically stated in the movie (Aunt Sarah simply refers to them as her babies.) Now, after watching the movie, you'd think I would know because of who voiced them. They were voiced by a woman, but
originally they were voiced by two men.
Also, I was wondering about Flotsam and Jetsam. Does anyone know which is which? The yellow eye is different on each of them, and I'm just wondering if anyone knows which poopsie is which.

Well, here's a little info about Si and Am.
Their name's put together spelll Siam, which is where Siamese cats are from (or so I've heard)
They are most likely girls, since they were voiced (both singing and talking) by Peggy Lee, who also sang Peg's song He's A Tramp, which I believe she also wrote, along with We Are Siamese, she also voiced Peg the dog in the pound.
As for Flotsam and Jetsam, I haven't figured it out yet, but usually if you watch the movie on mute, it will tell you who is talking at that particular moment, but I think Flotsam is the one with the left yellow eye, and Jetsam the one with the right yellow eye
Another thing to note is that Flotsam and Jetsam are the names of the way dead bodies float in the sea, I believe Flotsam is when they just float around for days, and Jetsam well, I'm not sure, if you watch the remake of The Fog that crazy old guy tells you.

Completely OT, but Peggy Lee also did the voice of Darling.

I
know that Peggy Lee voiced them. I already mentioned that in my original question. They always struck me as being girls, but it's just a question burning a hole in my mind. Another thing is that, again, they were originally voiced by two men, and they were low and high (they were testing to see how they wanted the cats to sound) so it's not really helpful to think about it in that regard.

.
For the record-- Traditionally, flotsam and jetsam are words that describe goods of potential value that have been thrown into the ocean. There is a technical difference between the two: jetsam has been voluntarily cast into the sea (jettisoned) by the crew of a ship, usually in order to lighten it in an emergency; while flotsam describes goods that are floating on the water without having been thrown in deliberately, often after a shipwreck. (thank you, wikipedia!)
so, thanks for your update (i appreciate it) but I just wanted to set a few things straight.

Well, those were just demos by some of the song writers. It's not unheard of for composers and song writers to perform the songs themselves, even if the song is meant for the opposite gender. Only sometimes do they go out and hire someome specifically for a demo. Otherwise we'd have to assume that Alice, Ariel and Belle were originally supposed to be men, to name a few...

okay i appreciate that peggy lee voiced them. i do. but that still doesnt answer my question. Tommy, on the rugrats, was voiced by a woman but is indeed a boy. so, my question is still unanswered. thank you for the insight, though. it means a lot to me

i think si am r males because of the way they act..so r flotsam and jetsam..and in the musical demo..the songs flotsam and jetsam sang sounds like they were sung by guys.i think usually sidekicks r of the opposite sex to make it more diverse.like raven which is a boy crow, and erm...the evil queen's crow and lucifer...and djali....if flotsam and jetsam were female.im sure any feminist organization wouldve slammed disney for the evil potrayal of the womenkind.
.......or maybe they havent discovered it yet?

I also think they are males. They talk like males. But I could be wrong.

I always assumed they were males, given their antagonistic behavior. (I've had cats of both genders and the boys have always been more trouble-prone.)

I see both duos, Si & Am and Flotsam & Jetsam, as being males.

"Alex in Wonderland...
How do you get to Wonderland?"
Sorry, I couldn't help myself. And to top it off, what I wrote is quite lame.

Uh..right

You obviously haven't been introduced to Loomis, yet, then.

Prior to reading this thread, I never really thought about whether Si and Am were male or female. It isn't made clear in the film, while tie-in books of Lady and the Tramp only ever refer to them collectively as "they". There may be an official answer written down somewhere, but until we find it, I'd say they're whatever gender you want them to be.
Incidentally, I wouldn't really class Si and Am as 'villian sidekicks' in the same catagory as Flotsom and Jetsom, chiefly because I don't consider their mistress, Aunt Sarah, to be a real villian. She's not evil, she just gets uptight when there are dogs around. Hey, I can relate to that.

Si and Am eat people? WHAT?!

This is true, but Si and Am are certainly villains themselves. They could be considered Villain Sidekicks in that they are sidekicks that are villains, just like a Purple People Eater does not eat purple, but instead is a people eater that is purple.

thanks for explaining, disney duster

somehow, i wouldn't have been able to. im just weird like that. but does everyone seem to agree that si and am are boys? i am planning to write (for fanfiction) a version of 'lady and the tramp' with humans. lady is a 16 year old debutante, tramp is a 20 year old street smart guy... blah blah. i posted this to know whether to make the twins (the human versions of the cats) boys or girls. worst case senario- a boy and a girl. but i dont want to do that because it would bother
me if someone else did that.
so--are they boys? and, would anyone want to read it?
