UD's front page is reporting that the 2002 telemovie is coming to DVD on February 13, 2007.

I can easily see this as a tie-in/promotion for Cindy3, but I'm not complaining. "Confessions..." is a well-produced tv movie that is worth owning. I doubt we'll see much in bonus features (well, serious bonus features), though I'm sure there will be games and "be a princess" type features galore.

Still, glad that this film is finally getting its due on DVD and I plan on getting it when it comes out.

FINALLY! I've been waiting on this thing forever. I loved it when it first aired in 2002, now that I've recently read the book, I want to re-watch the film to see how it compares. Bonus features are not a priority for me; I'm just glad I can finally own this.

Yeah, same here when it comes to TV movies (unless the TV movie happens to be Lonesome Dove which deserves better DVD treatment), but it would be nice to see a couple featurettes, maybe something about adapting the book, and another about the Cinderella stories through the years. Even a fluffy EPK would be fun.

This is exciting. I used to cellect WWoD movies, but stopped because many of them just werent worth owning and I never watched them, but I remember this as being one of the better ones and I'm glad I'll be able to see it again. I wish some of the other WWoD movies that weren't released on VHS would get a DVD treatment since they have some really good unreleased ones in their cannon and I'm dying to see them again.

Sweet! I read the book, but never got to see the movie.

I'll certainly be getting "Confessions..." when it comes out.

I've actually never heard of this movie before, let alone watch it, but it does look promising, and it's good that Disney is finally releasing some of their older Wonderful World of Disney material to DVD. I'm waiting for Naughty and Nice to be brought to home video. I can see it easily tieing into a George Lopez show DVD release, or just a regular Christmas release next year. Hopefully they'll release it, so that it ties into The Santa Clause 3's DVD release, any other Santa Clause releases, a possible George Lopez TV show release, and maybe some other WWOD titles that are finally coming to DVD.
Sorry, I'm rambling. The movie Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister sounds good. I bet Stockard Channing is great in it. What is it about? I know that it's obviously about Cinderella, but what's this movies particular spin on it? What's new in this version?
I hope that a behind-the-scenes documentary is on there, but I'm just dreaming.

The best thing about Confessions is the surprises in how the Cinderella story is turned around, but I'll be vague. A woman named Margarethe leaves England with her two daughters Iris and Ruth. Iris is clever, witty, and headstrong, but very plain to look at (though in the film she's actually rather pretty). Ruth is sweet and innocent, but very slow and boarish in her mannerisms (in the book she's mute, but in the film she speaks). The three of them arrive in Denmark and an old hermit painter by the name of Schoenmacker allows them to stay with him as long as they earn their keep. He is hired one day to paint a portrait of a rich man's daughter named Clara. The painting is considered to be the finest he's ever done, and many aristocrats and society people come to see it. Through various circumstances that I won't spoil, Margarethe, Iris, and Ruth all move in with the rich man and Clara. I think you can figure out where the story goes from here, though it certainly doesn't play out the way you'd think.

Thanks for the info Kelvin, and thanks for not spoiling the story! It sounds more like Ever After than the animated 1953 Cinderella, so that must mean that it should be good. I'm looking forward to seeing the review of it. Hopefully I'll be able to see the film someday, but it's unlikely, considering here in Australia they don't play many Wonderful World of Disney films on free-to-air television.

Ummm...if you mean Disney's Cinderella, that was released in 1950.

Hmm, I didn't know they ever even did a movie version of this. I'm assuming its the same as the Gregory Maguire novel? I've never read it . but it seems interesting, and I'm a fan of wicked so maybe I'll enjoy this too.

I myself am a fan of Wicked, and I really enjoyed this book. It does lack some of the magic that Wicked had, but still it is an awesome book. There is also another book called Mirror Mirror which was very good if not somewhat confusing (to me).

That could probably explain its August re-release that never happened.

Bump
I don't think that this will get released, since there's no recent news on it. I think that Disney would be stupid not to release this, as they won't be cross promoting, which they love to do, but I guess that they could release it later in the year, along with the WoD Brandy and Whitney version of Cinderella. They really would be stupid not to cash in on the Cinderella fame now, but whatever.
And yeah, Disney Duster, I did mean 1950, for the Disney animated version of Cinderella.
