I'm a bit confused. What is the releationship between Sleeping beatuy (Walt Disney and Image Entertainment versions) and Peter Tchaikovsky and the Kirov Ballet? :?

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

I believe the Disney film's score is adapted from Tchiakovsky's music.

Yes you are right the music is adapted and used for the movie. Its a beautiful score for sure.

I had no idea till the first time i watched the movie and watched the bonus material on my Laserdisc boxset and discovered where the music really came from.

Yes the music score is by him. They did a great job when they put classical music into a Disney Film.

It is based on a ballet that Peter Tchaikovsky wrote

I own a CD of Tchaikovsky's score. Most of the music in Sleeping Beauty is loosely based on his original music for the ballet. "Once Upon A Dream" is taken from a waltz, the music for "Hail to the Princess Aurora" plays in the beginning of the ballet, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.

In either the season one finale or season two premier of Road To Avonlea, they play the music for "Once Upon A Dream," and I was thinking "How cheap is this??? Sleeping Beauty obviously wasn't around when this took place!" but then I realized it came from the ballet.

Yeah, those are the finale/premier. I'm pretty sure it's one of those (of course, it might not be, but it's close to it, if not). I really can't remember now, and don't have my DVDs right beside me. It was during a dream sequence of Sarah's, though.
