That's a pretty cool poster. I can even say that it outdoes the teaser poster for Cars

I picked up my copy of Cars today and I've already watched the Ratatouille trailer about 3 times now! I am so excited to see this movie, I can't wait for Summer 2007!

See I can't say that I'm all that excited for this one.
Of course I was that way about Cars and I wound up just loving it so I guess we'll see how that goes.

"Disney presents a Pixar Movie", is it just me or has that been wordered differently this time around? Probably because of Disney now owning Pixar.
I like it

Heh, what do you know, November 7th with the Cars DVD on shelves and they still have the same exact teaser and nothing new to show.
Why couldn't Pixar just wait until the DVD to add the teaser? As it's shown putting it in theaters next with "Cars" just wasn't needed.

That poster is easily one of the best movie posters in years, and probably the best poster for a modern Disney film (aka anything from 1985 onwards).
Nuff said.

You must not be in marketing, because surely you'd know that an audience's retention on a big screen trailer is much greater than it is on a DVD preview that can be skipped with the touch of a button.

Didn't stop Monster's Inc. or Finding Nemo!
I still hold my believe the reason Cars underperformed was because of the non-stop advertisement. So I really think Disney and/or Pixar should've toned down the advertisements and waited for the Cars DVD, as there is plenty of time to play the trailer during various movies in 2007, making them have no reason for them to play it with Cars during it's theatrical run.
I won't be surprised if this is the first Pixar film to actually fail.

Here we go, again. Didn't you say the same thing about
Cars, and that it would fail? I guess you haven't noticed that didn't happen. Granted, it's not Pixar's greatest effort, and didn't make as much money as the last three Pixar films, but, it also FAR from being a failure. In fact, domestically, it is only shy of
Monster's Inc. domestic total by around a million dollars, if not less.
It's also nothing new, to put a teaser trailer in front of a current project, to advertise an upcoming project. If you haven't noticed that, before, you must have been living under a rock. This has been going on for many years!

Personally I think the only thing that is really going to hold back this film is that it's going to be compared to Flushed Away, which is getting really good reviews. On top of that the commercial mentions "Better than Cars". Other than that, i don't think you can over publisize if the film actually is good. We'll be able to tell in due time i guess.

It's great!!! Now people know how to pronounce that weird french word.

Actually it's a very tasty dish with bell pepper, carrots, zucchini, cucumber.... I like it.

Quote me saying I thought Cars would fail, because I certainly didn't. If you look at my box office prediction for it in the off-topic thread, I predicted it would gross around $208 million, and if it grossed that much I wouldn't call it a failure(although, I do consider it disappointing). And looking at the final numbers, compared to others here, I wasn't far off. And you can find multiple quotes of me saying how I'd thought it'd gross more than "A Bug's Life" and "Toy Story", but wouldn't gross as much as the other 4, and it didn't!(and I'm not even going to go into inflation, making it the 6th grossing Pixar film)
So if anything, my prediction in saying Ratatoullie will fail is a fair percentage that I could be right(however, I'm not saying that as even I admit it's too soon to truely guess).
Also, I'm aware of teaser trailers and how many movies have had them, but can you name one film that have had promos an entire YEAR before it's release date besides the Pixar films that were successful? I can't(with the exception of maybe a couple animated films not Pixar)Even Pixar's stadegy is showing to be declining with Cars' box office performance. Also, I'd be overall fine with a teaser if it SHOWED us something, none of the Pixar teasers have done that.
I'm think advertisements can get tiring, and frankly, I think putting a teaser for Ratatoullie with Cars was entirely pointless and unneeded(and in a few cases unwanted). Overall, I'm not saying it will be sure to flop(as no one can even have a good guess yet), I'm saying I just wish Pixar can tone down with the advertisements as they obviously aren't needed, and I can't imagine many(if any) people(besides Disney/Pixar fans like us who knew about it before the teaser) actually looking forward to it this early.

Sure The Incredibles and Cars mark a decrease in gross in the Pixar line, but that doesn't compare to how much rave both films got. The Incredibles was talked (very positively) about by everyone when it came out. Then with Cars, I think the reason why people think it is a "failure" because John made it very personal, while at the same time, he had to keep the audience interested. The main reason for this negative look on Cars is because of the long stay Lightning has in Radidator Springs. I think John did this on purpose. What better way to show life is about how you get there, then to make the stay in Radiator Springs for us seem longer.
Being Pixar's seventh film, I truly believe people expected Cars to be a get in get out movie because they were so used to the previous Pixar films. But by literally having us stay and sit down longer with our family or friends in the movie theatres, John emphasizes his message of life is not about the destination, but about how you get there...to take the chance to be with the ones you love before they are taken away from you. Thus why people don't really find Cars to be that all appealing at first, which is what they base their reviews on without a second viewing.
Back on subject, didn't Fellowship show a preview for Two Towers and didn't that include a preview for Return of the King? You may disagree because it's a whole franchise so it doesn't count, but it's the same concept: showing a teaser a whole year before the movie is released. Did it help the movie gross a bit? Yes. Did the fans complain how they will die of waiting a whole year? Maybe, but I don't think they had it on their mind for all 365 days.
