Walt Disney and You

This segment always played at the ends of Disney films released on VHS between 1981 and 1984. It's a part of the 80s that no one quite knows about, yet if you mention a couple of details about it, it'll flood your memory all over again. Do you remember this ad? I'll explain more at a later date, but right now, I have to go carve pumpkins.

You can also view some interesting reviews of this ad on some websites.
Click
this link here for a rather cynical, negative review (it's down at the very bottom of the page, so you'll have to scroll down).
Or you can click
this link here for a more enthusiastic look at the ad.

Nowadays, if that ad was shown today, it would be shown at the beginning of the video instead of the end.

I heard tell of a significantly shorter version of the ad somewhere, clocking in at two minutes (the full version is over five minutes). Does anyone have a video of that? Also, can anyone put up any pictures of videos that have the ad on it?

I've seen this ad a few times on Youtube. The quality looked really bad in some areas, especially on the clip from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (see it if you don't believe me)

Yeah,
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is one of the more atrocious prints. For the record, others include
Boat Builders,
Mary Poppins and
Lonesome Ghosts. By the same token, however, some prints are really quite impeccable, such as
Thru the Mirror and
The Watcher In the Woods.

Great ad, thanks for the link! Was that Goldie Hawn dancing in costume in one of the clips? What movie is that scene from?

That would be
The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band. And Hawn did star in that movie, so maybe that is her.
BTW, did you know that one of the clips from
Watcher In the Woods is the infamous unseen alternate ending, where one woman screams, "What did you see?!"

I was also thinking about this earlier. There was another post about this video promo and I remember it being one of the first posts I got really involved in when I first arrived last year. But it's good for a post about this promo to finally have a NAME for the actual promo itself.
I will definitely watch the YouTube vid again because the VHS I have it on is still really old.
