I've never been on a Disney Cruise and was curious what the general concensus was on attending a Disney Cruise alone. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

While I haven't personally been on a Disney cruise, I can't see any issues with solo travelling.

What, specifically, are you concerned about?

Activities? Costs? Or just the perceived stigma of going solo? If it is the latter, I'd say it is no different to visiting a park by yourself. Less so, in fact, because cruise ships are largely designed for socialising and you'll certainly not be the only single on there!

I have been on one. What is your issue? Are you looking for a date on the cruise - if so, not many singles on board. Mostly families and a few couples.

For the most part I was wondering if the activities were mostly aimed at being more family oriented, for clear reasioning, or if someone could go solo (me) and still enjoy themselves. I'm not worried about costs or 'finding a date' so much as if I'd be able to get involved. I've been told that its natural for groups of people to include people the find are on board alone.

So, I guess what I'm asking is if it is mostly family oriented or not. I'm looking at taking my first cruise next year so I'm just looking into things starting now.

Well, Disney being Disney, the emphasis is naturally on families, but in that they have tried to theme different areas of the ship to different age brackets.

There are movies, rest and relaxation (gyms, pools), live shows and nightclubs. The whole thing is designed so that regardless of age, you'll have something to do. It is also set up that way to give parents a break from kids!

For adults only -
Just before dinner, treat yourself to one or all of the luxurious spa treatments. After dinner, put the kids down to rest, then its off to Beat Street for nighttime entertainment. Stop by the Rockin "D" Bar where there's rock one night and country another. Or for a good laugh, there's Offbeat, an improv comedy club. For those wanting a laid-back atmosphere, there's Sessions hideaway piano lounge.

My husband and I went on a 3 day cruise on the Disney Wonder in August without the kids. It was our first cruise. In my opinion, you can find plenty of things to do on board if you're going solo. In the afternoons, they offered a variety of activities. Some of them were "family oriented" while others were adult oriented. There are adult only areas of the ship that are more quiet than the general areas. On the 3 day cruise, all of the shows were Disney themed. We had Hercules the first night, The Golden Mickeys the second night, and Disney Dreams on the final night. I loved them all because I'm a Disney fanatic, but I can see where some adults may not enjoy having Disney-based entertainment every night.
