I just downloaded Internet Explorer 7, and let me tell you, it is AWESOME! It's got some great new features, including having tabbed browsing, meaning you can view multiple websites, with only one window opened. It's also got Quick Tabs, which, when you click on it, will show you a live picture of the different websites you are viewing. It's got a lot of great other features, on top of actually seeming to browse faster. I'm very glad that I upgraded. It was made available, today. Anyone else download it? What are your thoughts?

I agree, its incredible! I always hated it when I had too many windows open, and all the Internet Explorers would automatically create one group, and you'd have to open it up and read the list for which Browser you wanted open Argh, it was annoying! So I'm loving this new 'tabbed browsing thing' It'll take a few weeks to get the hang of it. I also like the tool, Open last viewed tabs, which automatically takes me to Myspace and Youtube.

I agree, Josh. I should be in bed, but, I can't quit playing around with it. I don't know why, but, it's just so much cooler than it should be!

While I haven't found tabbed browsing beneficial (I Alt-Tab with the best of mankind), I do for the most part like the improvements. Though there should be a way for the Home and refresh buttons to not be so out of the way (when viewing at a high resolution, that is). Maybe there is and I just haven't found it.

Anyway, it seems a little unfair to give Microsoft credit for this since all they really did is implement changes to keep up with tiny Firefox, which saw these modifications fit quite a while back. Not that I'm one to vocally advocate one browser over another. All things considered, I prefer Internet Explorer to Firefox, actually.

Yes, it's free. No, it doesn't work with Windows 98, according to what they show at this link:

P.S. Google tells me it took 0.06 seconds to find that. Adding say, 3 seconds to type "Internet Explorer 7" and another two for the page to load, that's a little over 5 seconds to get these answers. Much faster than waiting for a reply!

i have it since it was the first beta and the improvements are great love how one can delete everything with a click of a button the tabs are great and how you can assign a home page to each tab is wonderful ... right not I have UD as one another forum as 2, disneyshopping as 3, amazon.com 4 and ebay as 5 and some others you can have a total of 8

awesome download free except they check to make sure you have genuine software on your PC before download...

I used the beta of IE 7 a little (haven't tryed the final yet). Still doesn't compare to Firefox with extensions in my opinion. Although it is an improvement over IE 6.

Kind of sad that its only available for Windows XP and Server 2003 (well its built into Vista, but that is still in RC phase). They should have made it available for Windows 2000. Tons of office and home computers are still on Windows 2000 and its still supported by Microsoft (until 2008 I think).

i downloaded 7 this morning and i love it ive been playing with it all day

ill have to get used to the new look and the tabbed browsing cause im so used to opening up a new browser window with 6 if i wanted to look at a ddiffrent site and keep the other site open too

oh and i love that little arrow in favorites

i can click on a favorite to open it in the tab im already using or i can click the little arrow and open it in a new tab what a great feature

has anyone else notice that the phising filter makes pages open a bit slow

I'm not sure I like the new interface... apparently MS thinks that streamlined always = better. Also, the loading time seems a second or so slower than IE6... and that's ignoring the irritating delay while it rearranges the toolbars and buttons to the configuration I prefer (which I'd think it should open to by default).

I had some of the same problems with Windows XP as well... I absolutely hated the new organization of the interface, which, IMO was anything but more efficient. I played around with it for a couple days before setting the start menu back to the old organization system, though I left XP's graphical start menu changes alone (which I did like). I can't stand when menu items constantly move around, and don't understand how this can make using a computer easier for anyone. I've been disabling Office personalized menus for as long as its been a feature.

As for IE7, while the stuff doesn't move around on you, the layout seems poorly conceived. Why would anyone want the menu bar below the back/forward buttons and the address bar? And why would MS fail to include the ability to move the menu bar back up to where it belongs? Even with the toolbars unlocked, they stubbornly refuse to change places. Also, I don't care for the apparently permanent positions of the refresh and stop buttons... they should be as customizable as any of the other buttons.

I respect that, but as a professional web designer who adheres to W3C standards, I really would like more people to give Firefox a try. It offers tighter security, more customization options, and is great at blocking popups.

Well, I guess Im not surprised they copied Forefox and will take all the credit... I stick to what I find to be the best and it is still Firefox. I havent had any of the Hardcore spyware since I switched a couple of years ago. I dont mind seeing what else is out there, but Im gonna stick with it and all the cool extensions...

Internet Explorer 7 is awesome!!! I don't like FireFox I try that at school and it always gives me problems...

I switched to Firefox many months ago ... and I will never look back ...

I love it! Everything loads faster ... nothing gets saved on my PC ... no pop-ups ... spyware ...

Oh ... and I've been tabbing since I downloaded it all those months ago LOL ...

Gotta love it!

Same here. I wouldn't care, but really pathetic thing is Microsoft didn't even include the ability to move around the toolbars to any great degree. You can only move the Links and Menu Bar... and only between the two choices of having one on top of the other or the other way 'round. You can't move anything above the back/forward buttons & address bar or below the favourites & other buttons toolbar.

Ignoring the coding issues that MS has still managed to leave in this new version of IE, the new interface makes it almost unusuable for me. IE7 still needs a fair bit of work before I'll be issuing any compliments.
