I just got my DVD Insider in the mail from Disney and saw the statue of Ariel that you get for joining along with lithographs and a pin. It's the Walt Disney Collectors Society and it costs $50 to join. I followed the link in the insider,
http://www.waltdisneycollectorssociety.com, which was the link given. I went through the order process and gave my credit card number and it said I was approved. Then nothing. No e-mail confirmation or anything. It goes through
http://www.enesco.com and I can't find other WDCS figures for sale on the site. Now, this link was given to everyone in the DVD Insider, so I don't think it can be a hoax, but I feel weird that I was given no receipt to print out or confirmation number or e-mail stating that I am now a member and why doesn't the website sell the statues? If anyone else is thinking of joining, you can do it through
http://www.disneyshopping.com and I would have felt more secure doing it through them. So has anyone else joined? Do you like the Society? Is it worth it?

I joined it but not online, I did it in Epcot. You can pretty much join in any of the Disney parks. I didn't go to the website but was there a number to call on the site so you can talk to someone about it? Or if you look on your credit card statement sometimes there is a phone number from the place you were charged that you can call and verify the info. I do find it weird that you didn't get a reciept though. And yes I think it is worth it if you are going to buy the pieces. Some of the pieces are members only and some aren't. Now you pay 50 to join but you get Ariel so I would say it is worth it. Thats what I did because I wanted the Ariel piece. It is really nice. But here is a website with info on pieces and one you canbuy the pieces on.
http://www.wdccduckman.com/ this is the site I was given from someone at the WDCC, this is where all the info of the items.
http://www.enesco.com/brand.aspx?brand=DS and this is where you can buy pieces. Also there are local vendors I have sheet somewhere if I didn't throw it out I can look up where one is buy you if you tell me what city you are in.

Thank you so much, Princess Marlo. There was a number in the DVD Insider with the website, so I'll call them Monday as they are now closed. I'm so excited. I have 1 WDCC statue that my mom got me. It is Sorceror Mickey and was exclusive to Disney Visa card members. My goal is to get one figure from ever classic. So basically I now have one from Fantasia and one from The Little Mermaid. lol. Although it will become two from TLM because I want Scuttle(he's my favorite character in the movie). I might get the Jungle Book one that is exclusive with Mowgli and Kaa in the tree. I wish I my parents had let me join two years ago. I didn't have my credit card yet, but the free gift was Jiminy Cricket with his badge. It was amazing. And one of the exclusives was a gorgeous Cinderella and the Fairy Godmother. Too bad I missed out on them. I might also decide one day to collect my favorite Disney villians and it would be cool to have 1 of each of the fab five. Also, the theme park ones are nice. I've only really seen the "It's A Small World" ones, but I'm hoping they do a Haunted Mansion set someday.
My favorite of them all from looking at the cases in WDW is the Peter Pan set they did with the window to the Darlings room and their beds. It was so nice. Also the one they did of Geopetto's workshop from Pinocchio.

Wow! The Ariel and Triton one is incredible. That's really cool about your collection. Good luck with that. I'm thinking of tracking down that Cinderella and Fairy Godmother from 2004. I guess you can still find them for the original price. I just found out that I have missed some from the Visa program. They currently are selling Flounder and Sebastian, which complete the Mermaid set, so I will be getting those through my mom. I missed one of Tinkerbell standing on a ball. I guess they also sold Chicken Little through the card, but it wasn't exclusive. I don't know if I should hunt down Tink and also have a card member set or what. I will be getting Tink in the lantern when she is released and I think one Tink will be enough for me since she isn't one of my favorite characters. By the way, this is the Cinderella and Godmother I want. Since you are collecting Princesses, you might want to look into it. Her gown has jewels in it and it's very shinny!!! (I feel like Dory for liking it so much)

It isn't dorky I like that stuff too, I have the lenox cincerella cake topper with prince charming and it has the swaroski crystals on it (I don't think I spelt that right) But that one is really pretty too, if you go here they have all of them pictured and there is a really nice one of cinderella and prince charming dancing and also of them after the wedding.

Thanks again. I'm the high bidder!!!! What's amazing is that my current high bid is $50 UNDER what the set originally sold for. It would be so incredible to win it for that! lol. If I loose, I found a website that has it for the original price and I will just get it there. I'm thinking about possibly picking up last years Bambi and Flower because they are still affordable and easy to obtain and then I would be done with Bambi. I'm satisfied with have just one character per film, but some of them are cool with the whole set, such as the mermaid set. I noticed that there is a time limited sculpture of Louie holding Sebastian. It's $175, which is a little expensive for such a minor character, but his scenes are a highlight of the film for me and I love "Les Poissons," so I might pick that up and have more Mermaid figures than anything. lol. They appear to have an open edition series of memorable characters, each at $99, so I'll probably get one a month or something, unless I go for more expensive ones. First on my list is Pan playing his flute and the characters from Alice. Also, the Goofy bending over with his dopey grin is very funny. I need to track down the Hawaiian Stitch drinking out of a coconut... and I might go for all of the Stitch ones available. I think there are 4, 3 at $99 and 1 at $50 plus a $150 Lilo with wagon and Elvis picture. I would pass on the Halloween ones. Wow!... my wallet is going to be hurting. I love collecting, but tend to get carried away, so I must be careful to only get really cool ones or ones that are important to me.

I joined when the WDCC first began as a charter member! I got the first statuette ever, which was of Jiminy Cricket. However... I never bought anything after that because I was only a High School student and couldn't afford anything. At the time, I didn't realize it was a club for buying statues. I guess I thought it was a club for Disney collectors or something. Anyway, I never renewed my membership because I couldn't afford it, and anyway, they short-changed me on one magazine. I was supposed to get 4 and only got 3 (and a nice case to store them in). I let them know about it, but they never made up for the mistake, so I naturally wasn't too psyched to renew my membership. However, I love the statuettes they've made and want to get a big collection of them eventually! Really want the Slue Foot Sue and anything of Ariel and Tink especially. I wish they'd make Katrina Van Tassel! But I notice you can easily find these statuettes on Ebay, so I will probably get them there someday. Probably cheaper that way too.

I also tend to get carried away with this stuff, I have so many snowglobes from disney. Also some are avaiable in the Movie Rewards so check those out, you have to have a lot of points but if you are going to buy the movies any ways then it is worth it.

I think we can all get carried away by collecting. Thing I like about Disney stuff, is there is so much of it, you're never going to collect everything, and you can focus on different characters, or different products, basically just buy what you like and can afford. I was into Star Wars collecting prior to this, and you just felt under pressure there to want everything, for example with figures, or busts, you wanted every character, and when they started doing convention exclusives or limited editions, it just got impractical to collect everything. I find collecting Disney stuff to be a bit more fun. I'm just collecting soft toys at the moment from the Disney Store in the UK. I'm at college on day release in a city where they have a Disney Store, and most weeks I'll pop in and pick up a new plush. I really love the plush Princess dolls they have in the Disney Store over here, and have got quite a collection over the last couple of months.
There's a few pics here of the collection I've amassed since going to Disneyland Paris earlier this year:-

Yes, it's a poster of the 10th Doctor and Rose in the background.
The snowglobes were Disney Store UK snowglobes, but they are old ones which will have been retired now, I got them off someone on Ebay who was selling off their collecion of snowglobes earlier this year. Initially I was just looking at the Beauty and the Beast Be Our Guest one, but ended up seeing these two Princess one's too.
I'm going back to Disneyland Paris in March, and I'm hoping they've still got some of the snowglobes they had last time. There was a beautiful one which was the Jolly Roger with Mickey, Donald and Goofy at the wheel, then various Disney characters around the ship. It had Belle and the Beast on it, Ariel, Aladdin and Jasmine, Peter Pan and many more.
They also had a nice Lion King Pride Rock snowglobe.
There's a really nice Little Mermaid snowglobe out in the Disney Store over here now too. Have to get that eventually.

So as of right now on ebay, I'm bidding on the Cinderella and Fairy Godmother from last year. I had decided that was going to be all I would get from "Cinderella," but then I saw this one they made from 1999 that I had to have. It is Gus and Jaque (Gus is my favorite character from the film) sitting inside of a teacup. There was also a saucer that it sits on which was exclusive to some event. It usually goes for $250 plus, but I'm bidding on one at $95. I hope I win because it is so cool. After those two, I plan to track down last years exclusive, which was Belle reading a book and there is a sheep that goes with it. Even though that was originally $50, it's hard to find under $75 and most go for $90. I guess Belle is pretty popular. All of the Peter Pan ones are awesome, but so expensive. There was a set of the Indian Pow Wow from the film that goes for over $1,000 and the whole bedroom scene has been retired for so long that it would be almost $200 per figure out of a 7 piece set!!!!! I'll get the open edition Pan playing his flute for $99 and maybe the Tink in Hook's lantern which is around $250, but very cool. Also, if any of you are Tink fans, there was one that is now retired and expensive of her walking on the mirror just like in the movie. It's probably the coolest Tinkerbelle one they've made. I'd get it over her in the lantern, but it's really pricy if you can find it.

I am an avid collector of WDCC's (Walt Disney Classics Collection). Currently, I own 62 sculptures. I have been a member for at least 5 years now.

I think I might be able to afford the membership. I wanted it last year (so I could get the Belle statue), but my parents didn't get it for me as a Christmas present. I've been to most of the WDCC dealers in the Chicagoland area. Sadly, I can't really afford to collect these beautiful figurines.

I'm so excited! I just got Hawaiian Stitch, a limited event exclusive that is retired, on ebay for $91 with shipping. This statue originally sold for $99. I basically saved $8. lol. If I had to pick one Stitch to collect, this would be it. I'm gonna calm down now and just wait on the Belle figure. I'll get Flounder and Sebastian through my mom's Disney/Visa connections tomorrow and pick up Scuttle when my membership arrives. After the "Cinderella" auction ends, I'll wait a while. I've decided to not pick up any open editions that I want unless I find them at a good deal or until their retirement is announced. I'll become broke very fast if I keep this up, so I'm gonne put my foot down on myself right now. I wonder how much glass cases are to house these beauties. Otherwise I'll just not put them up until I buy this curios cabinet I found at Hobo for $100. So far I have the Visa Cardmember Sorceror Mickey, I'm awaiting my membership Ariel and Hawaiian Stitch to arrive, am hoping to win Gus and Jaq in the tea cup and the Cinderella and Fairy Godmother set, and am going to order the flounder and sebastian set and scuttle. Then I won't buy another piece until after Christmas.
