Easy CD Creator will allow you to hook up anything to the computer (record player, tape player, VCD, DVD player) and let you input the sound onto the hard drive as wave files which are then already to burn onto a CD. You may or may not have to buy a cable from Radio Shack.

While we're on the subject, can anyone help me get videos on my MP3 player?

First, why would anyone want videos on an MP3 player? You can't see that little screen without squinting, and you can't watch them anywhere except at home, if you do at school, you can get into trouble. Besides that is a form of copying and that is against the law, or don't you read the FBI warnings?
A really easy way to get sound from DVD's or CD's is record to your CD recorder direct from the source. If you are using a computer, you just download the sound to your computer, and then make your CD-R from that. I have had no problem doing it that way, and I don't have to have any type of program to do it.
