I just viewd some of the new Fox and The Hound Single Disc (i was sure it was gonna be 2 disc, guess i was wrong) and the transfer looks amazing even in full screen.

i'm working on screen caps and trailers not too much here, they do have a trailer for FAH 2 and the Xmas DVD nothing too exiting and all the trailers from TLM dvd.

No art for upcomoing Disney DVDs included.

Here are some scans for now, the DVD art is great this time and yet agin the slip cover does not open but has an overprint.

If you wanna know more about this dvd fire away.

Ooh...nice translucent Tod-gets-his-face-cut-off disc art! and it's full color!

Mike, when do you think you'll have the movie screencaps up? That way I'd be able to compare it to the GC transfer, see how much (or how little) they put into restoring it.

lighthousemike-

I really envy you!! You already have the 2 DVD's I'm most anticipating (that have yet to be released) before both are even released!!

I agree with Escapay, can you please post screencaps of TFatH?? Oh, and have you looked at the bonus features? If so, how are they? (I'm planning on buying this DVD no matter what since I don't have the GC disk, but I really want to know about the special features and the restoration!!)

Also, is the insert only 1 cardboard(ish) sheet? or is it more in-tune with the PE inserts? (I know, strange question, but seeing the sheet you posted with the scene selection has me wondering).

THANK YOU SO MUCH! :D :D You really do make my day each and every time you get to tell us about the Disney DVD's you get in advance! (despite how jealous I am! )

brotherbear, I'm guessing that there's two inserts:

Insert 1: Scene Selection and promo for F&H2
Insert 2: Promos for Disney DVD Gameworld and Mickey Saves Santa

It's a raised form of the artwork on the slipcover. Like, you can feel it raised up so it's not flat. Paperback books use it half the time, and now it looks like slipcovers are starting to as well, which is unfortunate because the raised surface means a slightly more amount of cardboard/paper, which means more trees dying for the damn dvd condom.

hmm, I don't think Ive ever seen this type of case. I'm trying to visualise it and I just cant. not that I don't get the popping thing, but as a dvd case, it just seems odd. is it going to be more cardboard than anything? like the boy meets world sets? (minus the space for extra disks)

EDIT: wait, it still just one case, or two? like, say the lion king 1 and 1/2? (but with the cardboard popping out of course). wouldnt that count as a slip cover?

If you've seen the slipcovers for Bambi II, Lady and the Tramp II, or The Wild, you'll know what an overprint is.

I was going to comment on how "Lambert the Sheepish Lion" seemed to be an odd choice for the DVD, but after thinking it over and watching the short again I guess it makes sense.

Shoot, I forgot to ask.

Is there any music videos on this disc? Cause I know that it was mentioned in Newsweek that Lucas Grabeel finished one for "Best of Friends", unless they're saving it for F&H2.

Thanks for these, Mike! The transfer itself looks pretty solid. Considering how muddy the film's animation is to begin with, it's harder to judge the restoration quality, but it seems pretty clean to me, if a little soft in some shots. I can't believe Disney gives full disc art to this and not Little Mermaid, but I guess it's because they feel the latter is far more prone to bootlegging.
