My brother just told me he died today, That he was killed by a Stingray Barb.
Can someone please tell me if this is a rumor or if it's really true.
If it's true thats really sad, I really liked that guy, He was so cool.

I was about to throw this down as some idiotic urban legend (like Blue's Clues Steve dieing from a drug overdose legend that started a few years ago)
But OMG...its true...its f***ing true. I'm crying right now. I can't believe it

I don't know how I'm going to tell my daughter. We watched his shows and specials religiously. She aspires to be him. I HAVE to tell her. Some kid at school will probably tell her there and I don't want her to find out that way.
I know, this sounds so stupid. To cry about a man I never met, but I still knew him. He was a wonderful man. I just can't believe it.

R.I.P Steve Irwin

I genuinely feel sad about this. Imagine how terrible his kids must feel, they are only 8 and 3, can you imagine coming home and saying to a child "I'm so sorry darling, but, Daddy's dead"

They'll never see him again. Poor family, R.I.P Steve, your family is in my prayers.

Yeah this is totally true. I heard from some chick on my bus home from school and I thought that it was total BS, but then my mum said it and it was on the radio, and then I accepted it. Here in Australia it is the total topic of conversation and will be for the next week. A few TV showshave been postphoned for Steve Irwin Tribute specials. It is all that's on the news right now. I can tell you a ton of information about it just from watching the news for five minutes.
Steve Irwin was killed today in a freak accident on The Great Barrier Reef (location of Finding Nemo), when a stingray poisoned him. He suffered a heart seizure and died in the paramedics hands as they were taking him to the hospital on a boat. His wife Terri and his two children Bindi and Bob was in Tasmania at the time, and have since travelled up to the Gold Coast where Steve's zoo, Australia Zoo, is located. Terri was on an expedition in the bush at the time of his death and was notified as soon as possible. It is unclear what the future holds for the Zoo, and it is even unclear whether it will be open tomorrow. He had a long and internationally recognised career, and will be forever known here in Australia as the Crocodile Hunter. RIP Steve Irwin 1962-2006.
I feel sorry for the whole Irwin family. I swear to god, everyone at school and on the radio and on the news will be talking about it tomorrow. TV will be sacrificed for his passing, but I don't mind. Steve was so cool.

I have nothing to say except that it's his own fault. He knew he was putting himself in idiotic danger, and he died because of his lack of being, well, smart. I don't feel for him because I never liked him and found him to be a stupid idiot, no offense to him or anything. It's just his fault, and he paid the price. He shouldn't have done what he has done all of those years, because he knew, sooner or later, that he would die from this. I knew that he would die because of this. Well, that's all I gotta say.

Well, you could say the same of Athletes, Motorsport drivers, divers, policeman, firemen, stunt men, builders and many other careers.

Rest in peace, Steve Irwin. I pray that your family has peace and strength during this difficult time.

At least he went doing something he'd been doing his whole life and something he enjoyed doing

I was shocked and very saddened when I heard this dreadful news.
This celebrity death is especially surreal (at least that's how I describe the deaths of celebrities that I like and didn't expect) because he was so young.
So, this is how its gonna be....Tony Jay and then this, but who is the third? I am bracing myself.
RIP Steve Irwin, you will be sorely missed.

He was in his prime too. He's got a wife & two small children, I definitely feel terrible for them. He always looked like he was in complete control of whatever he was doing, even if it was wrestling with crocs, snakes, or in this case, stingrays. I'm surprised & saddened that he died the way he did.
R.I.P. Steve Irwin

This complete the trilogy of death for this cycle. Tony Jay, Glenn Ford, and now Steve Irwin.
They say it always goes in cycles of three.

I wouldn't call him stupid; the man knew lot about animals. But smart people often do dumb things, and this was one of them. Irwin was just too interested in risk-taking.

Yeah, look at George W. Bush, he graduated from YALE for God's sake. When you say often, in Bush's case I think REALLY often.
Steve Irwin was an animal lover & a naturalist, & he would always put himself in harms way to help others, human or animal. He cared for what truely is right for the environment & he should be well praised for doing so. I'm not a big fan of him either, but he was a good man.

I never really watched his shows but his death is sad because he was young and the death was so sudden. I feel bad for his wife and kids. RIP Steve.

I was in total shock last night when I read the news. It just couldn't be...
