Dick Tracy

I've just watched my Dick Tracy DVD. What a treat for the eyes!
Of course, Dick Tracy didn't do very well in the UK - mainly because most people were unfamiliar with the characters, the strip not having been published in the UK. However, being an avid comicbook reader, I had (and still have) a passing knowledge of the characters.
I've only ever seen it on UK television before, and after viewing the movie I have a distinct impression it had been edited for content - the actual film is alot more violent than I remember (in a good comicbook way - if you know what I mean).
I know that this is not a Disney film as such officially (it being a Touchstone release) but it's amazing Disney let this out unedited, when they seem to nit-pickey about their animated films.

I agree with you - it is rather violent for a PG film. But like you say, comic book kind of violence).
I think it's a really fun film, even if it's tough to keep track of all the colorful (or colourful

), eccentric characters. But I really like the style.
It's amazing all the talent Beatty was able to attract to the project, even if half of them are nearly unrecognizable.
The highlight of the movie for me has got to be Pacino's completely over-the-top hilarious performance. Oh, and young Charlie Korsmo adds charisma, too.

Anyone likes "Dick Tracy"?

I do, i loved it since i was 8! saw it at the theater when i was 8, i had some of the cards, a magazine on the movie, action figures, watched the cartoon on Nickoldeon and my mom bought herself the Madonna soundtrack.
I also thought Madonna was quite a dish as Breathless Mahoney when i was a little boy, this is one of my favorite movies of all time.

I don't remember very much about the film itself, but I still have all the promotional badges they gave away at McDonalds. It's long overdue for a rental.

Didn't "Sin City" reminded you of this movie?

I loved the way this movie was filmed and each frame was hand painted if i remember correnctly. Madonna was HOT in this perfomance, I wish they would release a special 2 disc edition of this movie with more bonus features.

I just watched this again a few weeks ago. It's a flawed movie and fairly silly, but I guess that's true to the source material's origins. For the most part, it's pretty fun. It's the type of movie I'd expect to be revisited if Buena Vista hadn't seemed to give up on re-releases, and DVD releases altogether, for the time being.

I don't think I've ever seen the live action movie, but I think I enjoyed the cartoon as a kid. If there was a cartoon... I kinda remember one, but then again I remember seeing Bambi's mom get shot and we all know that wasn't shown in the movie...

This movie has always been a favorite of mine. It's what I would call a "fun" movie ... you just pop it in ... sit back ... and have a good time escaping into it's campy fun-ness.
