Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, the second film this year to gross $300 million in domestic box office, may earn a distinction that's even more uncommon: back-to-back sequels shot in one simultaneous production. Recent successes which have followed the same format are Warner Bros.' "Matrix" sequels and New Line's "Lord of the Rings" trilogy.

Sources close to the film say the producers are pondering the possibility of back-to-back sequels, and talks have begun to secure the cast should Disney pursue that avenue.

Returning for at least one sequel are producer Jerry Bruckheimer, director Gore Verbinski, writers Terry Rossio and Ted Elliott (who haven't completed the script), and talent Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley.

No start date has been set yet.

That's great news...
...provided they are as cool as the original.
I suppose if they are as half as good, then I will enjoy them a great deal.

And with Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley back, I just can't say no. I think I have a schoolboy crush on all of them

it must be lucrative because he usually doesn't like commerical ventures.

I think he signed on for two pictures in the beginning, or if not he did it soon after the first one opened.

interesting to say the least and probably a smart move.

POTC did better then even its biggest supporters could have hoped and you gotta strike while the iron is hot. hopefully they actually have two scripts and don't pull a matrix where they have one script, stretch it into 2 for more money and fill the second movie with tons of filler material/25 minute fight scenes.

Johnny Depp is the one who they really need to come back. the other two were good and I wouldn't mind seeing them return... but Captain Jack Sparrow is the one person who really stood out in that movie, he was just plain nuts! The other two were good, but they were more like regular people.

This is great news. I can't wait. I just hope they turn out as good as the first one. And I don't think, I know that I have a bit of a crush on Orlando Bloom. He's dreamy.

Well, they are very cute boys. And very cool too. How can anyone NOT like Depp?
I could say that I find the first too very cool, and the latter very hot, but I think I'd rather leave you perplexed...

did you all see her in Bend it Like Beckham? How anyone could think she's a guy or a lesbian is beyond me.
