I went there this christmas and it had been modified from when i last went and they made it scarier, brilliant ride still anyone else recognise the changes in the ride over the years?

tell us about the changes

originally you would go up half way and encounter a ghost family then drop and go up then drop a few more times if i remember rightly, now there is more than one choice as there are different elavators with different experiences, the one i went on took me through space and lots of symbols start flying around you you see ghosts and travel around the building for a while you then get shot up and the doors open and right in front of you is the outside then you drop a few times , brilliant ride

It sounds like it is a lot better now, I have not been to MGM since 2002 and I regret that I did not get to ride on Tower of Terror. I also did not ride it when I went to DCA last November.

Its a brilliant ride, its far scarier than it used to be, when I went in december some poor girl had a convulsion and was taken away in a stretcher, that didnt stop the queue lasting for over an hour, thats why i always use the fast pass ticket, its far easier as you can come back to the ride an hour later and skip the queue

The new version is called "Tower of Terror 4"... each ride presents a random sequence of various drops, etc.

I've been on Tower of Terror in both parks, and it is an amazing rush. The Twilight Zone elements really enhance the experience.

I'm not positive, but it's probably 4 b/c it drops you a total of 4 times.

its a computer-run drop sequence, u can drop as few as 4 or as many as 7 times during the attraction now. u never know what u are gonna get....

ps- this attraction really scares me. i never go on it anymore. haha.

I never knew why people find this attraction so scary (unless you're afraid of elevators). I had really high expectations the first time I went on it and when it was over I was like "That was it?" Don't get me wrong, I think it's great, but not that scary.

Anyway, I'm talking about 5 years ago. Can't wait to see the changes.

I think I've been on the WDW Tower of Terror 4 times. I went twice on my trip last month. There are 2 different elevators, but I don't know if that makes a difference at all. My mom and I went on it once during the day, and when it became dark, the elevator quickly went up, so I knew it was going to drop. That made it less exciting, plus it seemed like there were less drops. We went on it again at midnight (extra magic hours), and we went on the other elevator. This time there were more drops and it didn't go up before dropping.

I only find it scary because I absolutely hate hate hate heights.

Just went on again recently about a week ago. The door shut, you go up a few floors and the elevator doors open. Enter ghost-waving sequence. You go up a few more and the doors open once again to sights reminiscent of "The Twilight Zone". Then literal doors open in front of you -- to the drop shaft. Up, stop, pictures, down, up, down, up, stop, down, stop, up, down. Yay.

Yeah, the sequence TLMerman posted was basically what I've experienced each time we went.

its not the heights im scared of, its FALLING from heights that gets me...
I've done this attraction 3x & that is more then enuf for me to last the rest of my life.
Prob the ONLY attration on WDW property I refuse to go on is this one.
by the third time around & I still didnt like it- thats enuf...

Id love to go on this ride again! I honestly havent been on it in years, my boyfriend refuses to ride it, he says he doesnt see the enjoyment of feeling like you are "plummeting to your death"

Ha ha! I really don't enjoy that sensation either! I have never really gotten why people like so-called "Thrill Rides." Splash Mountain is as thrilling as I like to get, and even that drop gives me the flip-flops! I HAVE ridden Tower of Terror before, probably around 3 times, and I agree with what Fidget said. It's enough to last me the rest of my life. I think it's a brilliant ride, I love Twilight Zone so I love the theme, the building, the show part of it, but I just don't like to be dropped from a tall building. After riding it at least twice with my little sister and once with my best friend (if not twice), I have said it before and will probably stick to it, "The only thing that could get me on it again is a really beautiful girl," ha. I wish there was a way to see the show part and not get dropped, ha. I love it and I even love the cheezy TV movie with Kirsten Dunst (gotta get that DVD, though I think it's OOP now).

To be honest, one of the main reasons I love Disney parks, besides the fact that I'm a Disney fanatic, is that their rides and attractions are more about "show" than thrills. I've been getting a little worried though that that is going to change. I hate to see Disney become like all the other amusement parks, which I find intensely boring, because they have extremely kiddie "go-round" rides for the kids, and only coasters and thrills for the adults. That's why changes to the parks really make me nervous. Anyways, the only ride that comes to mind in Disney World that I haven't ridden is Rock'n Rollercoaster, and that's too bad, because I love Aerosmith, but I've never been on a coaster that goes upside down and I really don't think I want to. I hear it's so awesome though. Oh, and I haven't been on Mission Space. Almost went on last time, but we didn't get to because we wanted to see the fireworks. But haven't like two people died on that ride? And I'm not even sure what it involves, really.

I know that there was one death of a four year old child for sure (check here for what happened), plus a number of other less dire cases such as nausia.

By the way, slave2moonlight, I've been enjoying reading your posts!
